While the rainy season might keep many travelers indoors, it’s also when Ban Gioc Waterfall - Vietnam’s largest and most impressive waterfall comes to life in its most powerful form.
ASIA DMC’s 5-Day Northern Loop Explorer is designed to showcase that seasonal transformation.

The journey begins from the vibrant streets of Hanoi to the tranquil beauty of Ba Be National Park, home to serene lakes, limestone mountains, and ethnic minority villages of Tay and Nung.

Continue to Cao Bang, a province known for its untouched landscapes and rich cultural heritage. One of the highlights of the trip is the majestic Ban Gioc Waterfall, especially breathtaking in the rainy season when its powerful cascades thunder down the cliffs in a spectacular display of nature’s force.

The journey then takes you to Bac Son Valley, where lush green rice fields stretch across dramatic karst formations, offering stunning panoramic views. Along the way, immerse yourself in authentic rural life, traditional cuisine, warm local hospitality and discover local artisan villages.

With water levels high and the scenery at its most dramatic, this is the perfect time to experience the region, ideal for those drawn to nature, culture, and off-the-beaten-path adventure.

Bangkok Suvarnabhumi ranks #1 globally for airline connectivity, beating Singapore Changi and Dubai International airports

According to a new ranking by Brilliant Maps, Suvarnabhumi Airport now leads the world in airline connectivity, with 113 international carriers operating flights in and out of Bangkok, the highest number of any airport worldwide.

This milestone reinforces Thailand’s position as a regional hub for both travel and aviation, ahead of major global airports such as Paris Charles de Gaulle, Dubai International, and Istanbul.

Thailand’s government attributes this success to consistent investments in infrastructure upgrades, safety protocols, and passenger services. Suvarnabhumi has also climbed 19 places in the global airport rankings and is now aiming for a top-20 position in the next five years.

For regional DMCs and travel planners, enhanced connectivity translates to greater flexibility, more access points, and stronger inbound potential, especially as Thailand continues positioning itself as a key gateway to Southeast Asia.

Tucked away in the remote northwest of Cambodia lies Banteay Chhmar Temple, a lesser-visited Angkorian complex that offers a powerful sense of discovery.

Built in the same period as Angkor Thom, this monumental site ranks as the fourth largest Angkorian temple and is one of Cambodia’s most important archaeological landmarks.

Surrounded by forest and encircled by a vast baray, the temple holds rare bas-reliefs and striking Buddhist imagery that reflect life, devotion, and military scenes from 800 years ago.

Beyond the main sanctuary, visitors can explore the nearby Banteay Torp ruins, visit nine smaller satellite temples, or take a traditional ox cart ride through the village, stopping by a local silk workshop to observe age-old weaving techniques still practiced today.

Unlike its world-famous counterparts, Banteay Chhmar remains remarkably untouched, creating an atmosphere of quiet reverence far from the crowds.

Hanoi introduces over 20 new tourism products for National Day 2025

Building on the success of favorites like the Van Mieu Night Tour and Hoa Lo Prison Night Tour, a new collection of more than 20 culture-inspired tourism products is set to launch.

Some highlights of the collection include The Bell of Tran Vu, a curated night-time experience at Quan Thanh Temple that integrates sound, lighting, and traditional performance; Truc Bach Subsidy Street, a themed walking tour reflecting Hanoi’s post-war subsidy period; a cultural program in the Dao herbal medicine village in Ba Vi; regional river routes that connect Hanoi with Hung Yen, Bac Ninh, and Hai Phong; and newly developed community-based and agricultural tourism experiences in My Duc and Tich Loc.

The new collection is expected to add even more vibrant activities for visitors and significantly enhance Hanoi's tourism scene, as well as respond to increasing travel demand during Vietnam’s National Day holiday.

From 2022 to 2024, visitor numbers during the holiday period increased by 28.3% annually, while international arrivals rose by 62.5%. According to Agoda, accommodation searches for Hanoi during this year’s holiday have surged over 44 times year-on-year, with many central hotels already fully booked.

In the heart of Hanoi’s vibrant food scene, mien luon (glass noodle soup with deep fried eel) stands out for its delicate balance of flavors, achieved through meticulous eel preparation and a richly layered broth that embodies northern Vietnamese culinary tradition.

Often overlooked beside famous dishes like pho and bun cha, mien luon quietly earns its place as a beloved specialty, recently recognized by the Michelin Guide Vietnam 2025.

Rarely prepared at home due to its labor-intensive techniques, mien luon is best enjoyed in Hanoi’s Old Quarter, where family-run eateries have perfected the recipe over generations. Its unique flavor profile has captured the hearts of not only lifelong Hanoians but also visitors from South Korea, Japan, and beyond.

Recently spotlighted by the Michelin Guide Vietnam 2025, mien luon is no longer just a local favorite. Its appeal has reached global palates, drawing diners from Korea, Japan, and beyond.

Let ASIA DMC guide you to the flavors locals cherish and the cultural depth behind every taste.

Latest update about Storm Wipha in northern Vietnam

Storm Wipha made landfall this morning, July 22, bringing intense rainfall and strong winds to northern and north-central Vietnam.

Up to 9 PM of July 22, the storm has weakened into a tropical depression and then into a low-pressure zone over the Upper Laos region.

As always, ASIA DMC prioritises the safety and well-being of all travellers, staff, and partners. Our team has been closely monitoring the situation across all affected areas. We remain working closely with local suppliers and authorities to assess conditions, ensure all services are delivered with caution and flexibility.

Laos Women’s Union Establishment Day observed on July 21 this year is a meaningful occasion to honor the strength, creativity, and resilience of Laotian women across generations.

In Luang Prabang, that spirit lives on every day through a remarkable artisan association: founded by women, run by women, and dedicated to preserving the country’s rich textile traditions.

One of the most inspiring ways to engage with this spirit is through our 𝐅𝐮𝐥𝐥 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝐀𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐬𝐚𝐧 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫, featuring women-led workshops and traditional craft centers that preserve the country’s rich textile and artisan heritage.

Try your hand at silk weaving, bamboo crafting, or natural dyeing, then enjoy a leisurely lunch at a cozy café. In the afternoon, head to Ban Xang Khong, the famed Paper Village, where you’ll learn the art of saa paper-making amid peaceful gardens, sip tea, and finish the day with a scenic tuk tuk ride back to town.

On July 16, Thai AirAsia officially inaugurated its newest direct route between Hai Phong and Bangkok, operating four times a week (Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun). The launch was celebrated with warm welcome ceremonies at both Don Mueang and Cat Bi International Airports.

This new route not only enhances regional connectivity but also strengthens tourism and trade links between northern Vietnam and Thailand. With Hai Phong’s growing appeal as a gateway to iconic destinations like Ha Long Bay with unique character, delicious local cuisine, and Bangkok’s vibrant cultural offerings, the route is expected to attract both leisure and business travelers.

In the first half of 2025, Hai Phong welcomed over 7.5 million visitors - a 28.1% year-on-year increase, signaling strong tourism momentum.

As AirAsia continues to expand its Vietnam network, this route marks yet another milestone in making travel across Southeast Asia more seamless and accessible.
