In May, the beginning of the rainy season is also the time when terraced fields of Sapa transform into shimmering “mirror seas”. The water-filled paddies beautifully reflect the sky, clouds, and majestic mountains of Northwest Vietnam. 🌾💧

This is also the start of the rice planting season. As there is only one rice crop each year, local farmers begin preparing and cultivating the fields early. The sight of people working across the layered hillsides creates one of the most beautiful and memorable scenes. With cool temperatures of 20–25°C, Sa Pa becomes a nice change from the summer heat and a paradise for photographers, nature lovers, and adventure seekers.

This magical scenery will only last for a short time. In just a couple of months, the terraces gradually turn fully green and take on a completely different mood.

Officially opening direct flights between Vietnam and Sri Lanka ✈️🇻🇳🇱🇰

Starting from August 2026 with Vietjet Air and October 2026 with Vietnam Airlines, direct flights connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo will officially begin operation. The new connection will not only shorten travel time but also boost tourism and business ties.

Sri Lanka is already Vietnam’s third-largest aviation market in South Asia. In 2025, more than 38,000 passengers traveled between the two countries, up 17.5% from the previous year. With this new route, along with Vietnam’s diverse landscapes, rich culture, cuisine, and growing tourism infrastructure, the country is expected to attract even more travelers from this market in the coming years.

Vietnam records 2 million foreign arrivals in April

Vietnam drew 2.03 million international visitors in April, lifting the four-month total to 8.8 million, a 14.6% year-on-year increase and about 35% of its 2026 target of 25 million arrivals. It is the first time Vietnam has surpassed 2 million foreign arrivals for four straight months, and the first time the January – April tally has reached 8.8 million.

This strong and steady growth shows that Vietnam continues to strengthen its position as one of the most attractive destinations in Southeast Asia. More and more travelers are choosing Vietnam not only for its beautiful landscapes, rich culture, and delicious cuisine, but also for the strong safety, and a wider range of travel experiences.
