Before Vietnam’s transformative political era reshaped the nation, there was an empress who stood at the crossroads of tradition and modernity. Empress Nam Phuong, the last empress of the Nguyen Dynasty, carried herself with elegance through one of Vietnam’s most pivotal chapters.

In fashion, Empress Nam Phuong’s style was carefully curated across each stage of life, serving not only as a constant source of strength and expression, but also as a lasting source of inspiration for decades later.

Thac Ba Lake - "Halong Bay on land".

Thac Ba Lake, located in Yen Binh, Yen Bai, is one of Vietnam's three largest artificial lakes. It covers an area of about 20,000 hectares and is home to over 1,300 islands of different sizes. With a majestic natural landscape, Thac Ba Lake is attractive to a host of globetrotters, especially motorbikers, due to its charming beauty with a poetic lake. It is not only the main source of water supply for generating electricity but also an essential fresh air habitat and an ideal spiritual place. This destination is considered a pearl of the Northwest region and compared to "Halong on land".

Thac Ba Lake is in the Chay river basin in Yen Binh district and a part of Luc Yen district. From Hanoi, you move a distance of 140 km along Highway 2 to the west to get to the lake. Construction of the artificial lake started in 1962 and was completed in 1970. The primary purpose of this construction is to block the Chay river to create a lake serving water to the Thac Ba hydropower plant.

In addition to the Chay River, the main water source, Thac Ba Lake, gets water from a large canal system such as Hanh or Cat canals. The silt of the Chay River and the system of large canals contribute to raising the level of all the villages along the lake.

Immerse in the ethnic group culture
There are over 13 ethnic groups that still live off by Thac Ba Lake. Some of them are Tay, Nung, Mong, Dao, Cao Lan, and they always keep the customs and old traditions passed down by their ancestors. The majority of people settle in small communities in the mountain, while others choose to move down the river and earn a living by fishing. Every year in early January, the people will host spiritual festivals to celebrate the last year and hope for a better season. Travelers can participate in the locals' daily lives and understand more about how they live in this rural area.

Eat and stay in Thac Ba Lake.

Coming to Thac Ba Lake, you can take a boat, immerse yourself in nature and take in the cool air. After enjoying the majestic scenery of mountains and islands, you should pay a visit to Thuy Tien cave, Xuan Long cave, Cao Bien mountain, Chang Ro mountain, Thac Ong temple, and Thac Ba temple. Besides, you can explore ancient forests or go along the Chay river and come to Ngoc Luc Yen to visit Sao cave, Dai Cai temple, and Khai Trung plain. The discovery of these famous sites will bring you more knowledge of the distinctive culture of the Tay and Yao ethnic groups.

Eat and stay in Thac Ba Lake
Not only famous for the majestic nature, but visitors coming to Thac Ba also fell in love with its culinary culture. Many ethnic groups have contributed to the variety of delicious dishes in Thac Ba, such as mountain grill chicken, five-colored sticky rice, bamboo-tube rice, and smoked buffalo meat.

For accommodations, it is suggested to stay at the Ngoi Tu village homestays or Vu Linh eco-lodge. These areas stand beside the lake with a great view and high service. Spending the night here, you can experience the special culture and at the same time, have the chance to try out their unique foods.

👩‍❤️‍👨💖 5 Reasons to Spend Your Honeymoon in Cambodia 👩‍❤️‍👨💖

Following up on our great new offers for this fantastic country, I thought that now was the perfect time to share with you the many reasons that a Cambodian honeymoon can be all you want and more. Here are five great reasons to choose this beautiful and historic Asian country for your honeymoon.

1. History. Cambodia has a rich and amazing history spread throughout the country. If you combine a honeymoon in Cambodia with a quick trip to Vietnam, you know you’ll be visiting a pair of the most exciting places available in Asia. If you’d like to enrich your mind rather than simply relax, or mix a bit of learning with a bit of relaxation, Cambodia is simply the perfect choice.

2. Sights. Cambodia is best known for the iconic temples of Angkor, one of the world’s oldest temple complexes. Exploring the temples and walking in the footsteps of so many historic figures is nothing short of thrilling, and there’s always the fun of finding the little nooks and crannies where you can be alone together in the midst of history. Plus, you’ll have absolutely amazing photographic opportunities; snapping the iconic silhouette of the temples at sunset is an incredible, magical moment.

3. Flavours. If you’ve ever wondered what Asian food really tastes like, you’re guaranteed to enjoy your time in Cambodia. Better known as Khmer cuisine, with its French influence, Cambodian food is quite an experience. Most dishes are served with a bowl of rice and are similar to Thai and Vietnamese food with a unique Cambodian twist. Fish is often served due to the large rivers running through the country. You may even have the opportunity to take a cooking class together and bring Khmer deliciousness to your everyday life.

4. Countryside. The Cambodian countryside consists of so much more than just Angkor Wat. Temples are hidden everywhere and a few daily excursions can only enrich your time in this lovely country. Worth a visit is the immense Tonle Sap lake wher a boat trip is a muct to experience the fascinating ‘water-world’ life of the locals. Phnom Penh, the country’s capital, is also a wonderful place to visit with its many markets and the stunning Royal Palace.

5. Luxury. Cambodia’s infrastructure has been keeping apace with the volume of travellers who are consistently heading over to visit Angkor, so you’ll find the ultimate in luxury there as everywhere. You won’t get just a place to lay your head, you’ll have wonderful evenings full of romance. At the Hotel de la Paix, for example, you won’t just save money. Duplex Spa suites have a rooftop terrace with an outdoor bathtub – the perfect spot to relax during your honeymoon. All rooms have iPods preprogrammed with the history of Angkor, Siem Reap, and Cambodia itself. The hotel is a wonderful mix of traditional and modern, with an amazing, and very unique, swimming pool and a restaurant that’s a place to be seen even for the locals.

When choosing destinations for your honeymoon, don’t hesitate to include Cambodia on your list. If you’re looking for more information or to book now, feel free to contact us at:

Explore the Wonders - Cambodia's Cuisine.

Khmer cuisine or, more generally, Cambodian cuisine, is the traditional cuisine of the people of Cambodia. Average meals typically consists of more than one dish and ideally contrasts flavours, textures and temperatures within the meal using plenty of herbs, leaves, pickled vegetables, dipping sauces, edible flowers and other garnishes and condiments.

Rice is the staple food in Cambodia, and it is part of every meal, both as an accompaniment and used as an ingredient for many dishes. According to the International Rice Research Institute, there are 2,000 rice varieties indigenous to Cambodia that were developed over centuries by Cambodian rice farmers.

Rice is eaten throughout the day in the form of street-side snacks, such as deep-fried rice cakes with chives and spinach, for breakfast, as in Cambodia's famous rice noodle soup kuyteav or rice porridge, and in many desserts. Plain white rice is served with nearly every family meal, typically served with grilled freshwater fish, a samlor or soup, and an assortment of seasonal herbs, salad leaves and vegetables

Cambodia food, the most overlooked of all Asian cuisines, is largely unknown elsewhere in the world. Yet Cambodia's savory noodle dishes, fresh seafood, and tempting sweets, its street food and classic Khmer recipes, reflect the rich history and culture of this beautiful country. Let an experienced chef who’s cooked at one of Cambodia’s finest restaurants and a writer deeply immersed in local foodways help you explore the delicious nuances of Khmer cuisine.
