🇹🇭 Thailand Visa Exemption Update: New Rules from 15 September 2026

Thailand has introduced a new 30-day visa exemption for travelers from 60 countries and territories, replacing the previous 60-day visa exemption scheme. A separate 15-day visa exemption applies to travelers from Seychelles and Mauritius, while passport holders from Azerbaijan, Belarus and Serbia are eligible for Visa on Arrival.

For travelers using the 30-day visa exemption through land-border checkpoints, entry is generally limited to twice per calendar year, with exceptions for nationals of Malaysia, Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia and Singapore, as well as other nationalities that may be designated by the Ministry.

The 60 countries and territories eligible for the 30-day visa exemption are:

Australia, Austria, Bahrain, Belgium, Bulgaria, Bhutan, Brunei Darussalam, Canada, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Fiji, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Indonesia, India, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Malaysia, Maldives, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Oman, Philippines, Poland, Portugal, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Türkiye, Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom, and United States of America.

Thailand's visa exemption framework also continues to include separate bilateral and related arrangements, which may provide different visa-free stay periods depending on the nationality and applicable agreement.

🐢 Every year, from April to September, hundreds of sea turtles return to the waters of Con Dao to begin one of nature’s most remarkable journeys.

Among the islands, Bay Canh Island is at the heart of this story. Its quiet beaches provide a safe place for turtles to come ashore, dig their nests, and lay their eggs before returning to the sea.

And the numbers are extraordinary. Between 2016 and 2025, more than 20,800 sea turtle nests were rescued and successfully hatched, releasing over 1.5 million hatchlings into the ocean. Yet only a small fraction will survive to adulthood, making every successful journey back to the sea even more precious.

Beyond the turtles, Bay Canh reveals another side of Con Dao. Mangrove forests, seagrass beds, coral reefs, and tropical rainforest create a remarkably diverse ecosystem, home to many rare species.
