Four Vietnamese salads crunch into the 2025 global top 100
Vietnamese salads shine in the world's top 100 list, led by mixed pho at number 35, alongside other dishes like beef salad.
The "Top 100 Best Salads in the World 2025" ranking by international food magazine TasteAtlas is based on 17,076 reviews, of which 9,432 were verified as valid by the system.
Mixed pho, or pho tron, ranks highest among Vietnamese dishes at number 35. This dry pho features marinated beef or chicken, rice noodles, herbs, fried shallots, and a tangy dressing. Topped with peanuts and chili, and served with lime, it is a popular summer dish from Hanoi.
The other three Vietnamese dishes on the list are nom at number 45, rare beef in lime juice salad (bo tai chanh) at number 65, and beef salad (goi bo) at number 79.
Nom is a salad made from grated veggies like cabbage, papaya, and green mango, sometimes with boiled pork. It is dressed with fish sauce and served with prawn crackers. Called nom in the north and goi in the south, it is topped with chili and nuts.
Inspired by Cambodian and Lao flavors, bo tai chanh features raw beef slices "cooked" in lime juice. It is mixed with herbs and fried garlic, dressed with a tangy, spicy sauce, and topped with peanuts and fried shallots,
In contrast, goi bo features marinated beef that is grilled to perfection. The beef is sliced and combined with vegetables like cucumber and carrots, along with herbs. Dressed with a similar tangy sauce, this salad is served warm.
Topping the list is Dakos, a Greek dish with barley rusk topped with cheese, tomatoes, olives, capers, and olive oil. Next are Greek salad with tomatoes, onions, and cucumber, and Houria, a Tunisian carrot salad with spices and harissa - a spicy chili pepper paste, which completes the top three.
