STEEPER FINES FOR OVERSTAYING EFFECTIVE DEC 15, 2025!
Effective December 15, 2025, foreigners using expired visas or temporary residence permits face fines up to VND 40,000,000 (≈ US$1,520)! 👇
Vietnam's new Decree No. 282/2025/ND-CP is officially in effect, significantly increasing penalties across various security and order sectors. For foreigners, the cost of overstaying is rising sharply!
Key Changes (Article 21):
- Violations under 16 days: Fines from VND 500,000 to VND 2,000,000.
- Violations 16 to under 30 days: Fines from VND 5,000,000 to VND 10,000,000.
- Violations 30 days to under 60 days: Fines from VND 10,000,000 to VND 15,000,000.
- Violations 1 year or more: MAXIMUM PENALTY: VND 30,000,000 to VND 40,000,000.
⚠️ WARNING:
Foreigners overstaying by 16 days or more may also face DEPORTATION, depending on the severity and nature of the violation, in addition to the fine.
👉TIPS: Please ensure your visa, temporary residence card, extension, or permanent residence card is valid or properly renewed before the deadline to avoid severe penalties.
