Any foreigners in Vietnam must have found the best way to extend their visa when it is close to the expiration date to stay longer in the country. In that case, how to extend the Vietnam visa? What to do to get the visa extended in Vietnam? Get the complete guideline below:

Now, firstly, you should now the ways to extend your visa available in Vietnam now.

It is called the Vietnam visa run. You can also apply for a new Vietnam visa at Vietnam embassy/consulate while you are in the neighboring countries. However, it normally takes around 3-5 working days. And it seems to be not effective if you want to leave Vietnam and then come back immediately.

✅ When to do the visa run:

In case you wish to do the visa run, you should apply for the visa approval letter 1 week in advance to ensure to get the visa approval letter on hand on time, and do the visa run 2 days before your visa comes to the expiry date.

In case your work schedule is too heavy to have one or 2 days for a visa run, or you don’t wish to waste time traveling forth and back to get the visa run completed.

Compared to doing a visa run from Vietnam, doing visa extension in Vietnam saves your time and money for traveling, but its fee itself is usually much higher.

✅ When to extend your Vietnam visa?

In case you wish to extend your visa in Vietnam without leaving, you should do it at least a week before your visa comes to expire.

Extending your visa late might result in paying penalty for overstaying which costs 1,250,000 VND minimum.

✅ What are the required documents to extend your Vietnam visa?

Depend upon your original Vietnam visa type, requirements might be different. For example, your original visa is a tourist one; you just need to hand in your original passport. If you obtained a business Vietnam visa through a sponsor company in Vietnam, when you extend your business visa, not only you present your passport, but also some documents signed and stamped by the company are required.

Locals say the good period to visit is from July to December when water covers the entire cajuput forest in Van Giao Commune, Tinh Bien District, enabling boat rides around it.

But many choose to visit in December-January because there is little or no rain, the weather is cool and the national reserve turns peaceful and scenic with cajuput leaves swaying in the wind and falling.

A journey to Tra Su starts aboard a motorboat which leaves a pier in the forest and moves along the cajuput forest for visitors to admire the vast greenery and lotuses and water lilies before they are transferred to a small wooden rowboat, which makes its way through green duckweed deep into the forest in less than 30 minutes.

From their boat, they can see birds and storks perched on the cajuput trees and hovering in the special forest of nearly 1,500 hectares.

Tra Su is home to 140 species of plants and more than 120 species of water birds, bats, reptiles, animals and fish, many of them rare and endangered with some listed in the Red Book.
