🌏❤️ If we hadn't started travelling, we would NEVER have met some of the most incredible people in our lives!

And honestly, that's something we still talk about regularly.

When we first set off travelling around Australia in our caravan, we were excited about all the places we'd see, the adventures we'd have and the experiences we'd share with our kids.

But one thing we hadn't quite anticipated was just how many wonderful people we'd meet along the way.

Families from all walks of life, people of different ages, backgrounds and experiences. Some travelling like us, and others simply going about their everyday lives in the places we visited.

Some we only spent an afternoon with, others a few days or weeks, and some even let us park up on their farm or in their driveway for weeks or months at a time (thanks, Julie Johnson & Russel Prince!) 😂❤️

We've shared meals, campfires, conversations, adventures, mishaps, plenty of laughs and so much more.

And we often find ourselves reflecting…

If we'd never stepped outside our comfort zone and taken that leap, our paths might never have crossed.

How wild is that?!

And it's not just about making friends.

We've met people who've challenged our thinking, encouraged us, shared their stories and opened our eyes to completely different ways of living.

Some have had a much bigger impact on our lives than they probably even realise.

It's been one of the greatest and most unexpected gifts.

And it's something we want our kids to grow up appreciating too.

That the world is full of wonderful people, and sometimes the most meaningful and memorable moments in life come from the connections we make along the way. ❤️

🌏❤️ It's okay for your dreams to change!

This is something we've been learning more and more after years of travelling with our kids…

When we first started dreaming about travelling as a family, we had a pretty clear picture in our minds of what that might look like.

The places we'd visit, the adventures we'd have, the lifestyle we'd create. We thought we had it all mapped out!

But as the saying goes, life happens! And somewhere along the way, we've realised that what we thought we wanted isn't necessarily what we want anymore.

Our plans are evolving, and so are we.

We've visited places we never expected to love quite so much, met people who've opened our eyes to completely different ways of living, and discovered opportunities we didn't even know existed.

And then, of course, there's the kids!

Travelling with four young children looks quite different to travelling with a teenager, school-aged kids and a toddler! 😅

Their interests change a lot the older they get and suddenly the things that excite them are different from what they were a few years ago.

And all of that shapes how we see the world and what we want for our family.

Some dreams we've already lived out, some we've let go of, and others have popped up along the way that we never could have imagined and we are now working towards.

And I actually think that's one of the most wonderful things about travel.

It. changes. you.

The more you see, the more people you meet and the more experiences you have, the more your perspective grows.

(And the less you judge people and sweat the small stuff… but that's a whole other post for another day! 😂)

You begin to realise there isn't just one way to live, one way to educate your kids, or one way to travel.

And perhaps one of the biggest things we've learnt is that

you don't have to stick to a plan just because it's the one you started with.

It's okay to change your mind.

It's okay to let go of something you once really wanted.

And it's okay to discover new dreams.

We're still dreaming, still making plans, and still changing our minds… sometimes daily (sorry, Brad!) 😂

And I really hope that never stops. Because that is what makes life wonderful and exciting. ❤️
