Join us on July 10th, 2025, for 𝐀𝐬𝐚𝐡𝐧𝐚 𝐁𝐮𝐜𝐡𝐚 𝐃𝐚𝐲, a special Buddhist holiday in Thailand. It's a time to remember the Buddha's first teachings (Dhamma) and the start of the Buddhist monk community.

A brief history on Buddha’s first sermon: Having attained spiritual liberation, or reached 𝐍𝐢𝐫𝐯𝐚𝐧𝐚, at the age of 35, Buddha chose to share his knowledge with his five former students.

Buddha explained how, between self indulgence and self mortification, he had found a Middle Way to control the wanting and suffering resulting from these paths, and ultimately, to be 𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐡 𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐜𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐬. This first sermon contains the essence of all of his subsequent teaching, and his first discourse on the matter.

The day is observed with beautiful temple events, prayers and candle parades. Many people also visit holy places and meditate.

Just two weeks ago, Japanese travelers were granted an extension to their visa-free stay in Laos. For up to 30 days, visitors from Japan can remain legally in Laos, doubling the previous limit of 15 days.

This decision was formalized during a meeting between President Thongloun and Japanese Prime Minister Ishiba Shigeru, held to commemorate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Laos and Japan.

The occasion reinforced Laos’s decision to strengthen ties with Japan through expanded travel privileges, and moreover, recognized Japan’s crucial support in energy and decarbonization initiatives and other legal frameworks in Laos.

🧹𝐀𝐮𝐫𝐨𝐫𝐚 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐀𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐬𝐡 𝐂𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐲

Last June 10, Aurora Travel had the honor of joining over 100 volunteers in the annual campaign organized by Keep Vietnam Clean to declutter the sandy miles and green respite of Halong Bay.

Using small kayaks and watercraft, we were able to carry out the cleaning in the vicinity of Ba Men Temple and Ba Ham Lake, covering the deepest and most obscure nooks between the islands and islets. After a day of labor, we succeeded in collecting several hundreds of debris from 𝐬𝐭𝐲𝐫𝐨𝐟𝐨𝐚𝐦, 𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐧𝐞𝐭𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐨𝐝,
as well as around 𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐤𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐰𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞 over a 2 km expanse of the beach.

The campaign achieved more than just restoration efforts — it was a chance to come closer in connection with the ocean, and grasp the true values of natural preservation in sustainable tourism. Aurora Travel thank our partners at Bhaya Cruise for accompanying us on this meaningful trip.
