Can you keep the rhythm? 🎋
This is the bamboo dance (múa sạp). Long bamboo poles are clapped together on the beat, and dancers step in and out between them. It is a tradition associated with the Thai and Muong communities of Vietnam's northern uplands, and many village evenings now invite visitors to try a round.
Most people miss a step or two at first, and the laughter is part of it. You can always choose to watch instead of dance.
