Customs officers at the Immigration Department will assist foreign individuals with procedures at the Department's office.

The validity period of electronic visas will be extended from a maximum of 30 days to a maximum of 90 days, available for single or multiple entries.

According to Article 2 of the Law amending and supplementing several articles of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam, starting from August 15, 2023, the validity period of electronic visas (or e-visas, designated as EV) will be extended from a maximum of 30 days to a maximum of 90 days, available for single or multiple entries.

The temporary stay period for citizens from 13 countries that Vietnam unilaterally exempts visas for will be extended to 45 days.

On August 14, 2023, the Government issued Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP to amend Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022, regarding visa exemption for citizens of certain countries. Specifically, Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP amends Article 1 of Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022, as follows:

Exemption of visas for citizens of countries: the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic, the Italian Republic, the Kingdom of Spain, the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the Russian Federation, Japan, the Republic of Korea, the Kingdom of Denmark, the Kingdom of Sweden, the Kingdom of Norway, the Republic of Finland, and the Republic of Belarus with a temporary stay period of 45 days from the date of entry, regardless of passport type or purpose of entry, based on meeting the entry conditions stipulated by Vietnamese law.

Therefore, compared to Resolution No. 32/NQ-CP dated March 15, 2022, the temporary stay period for citizens of these countries will be extended from 15 days to 45 days.

Resolution No. 128/NQ-CP will be effective from August 15, 2023.

Earlier, on June 24, 2023, the National Assembly passed amendments and supplements to certain articles of the Law on Exit and Entry of Vietnamese Citizens and the Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam. Accordingly, the temporary stay period for citizens from countries to which Vietnam unilaterally exempts visas will be extended to 45 days, an increase of 30 days compared to the stipulated period in the 2014 Law on Entry, Exit, Transit, and Residence of Foreigners in Vietnam.

These policies represent a breakthrough, affirming the Vietnamese Government's continued commitment to opening up to foreigners visiting Vietnam, facilitating visa, entry, and exit processes, especially for foreigners coming to Vietnam for work, investment, market exploration, and tourism.
