With deep sadness, we share the passing of our beloved co-founder, Eric Couwenberg. His loss is profoundly felt, both personally and professionally.
On April 8, 1967, Eric was born in the Brabant town of Bladel, he was the youngest of three boys and grew up in a warm and loving family. His adventurous spirit was evident from an early age and only grew stronger over the years.
After completing his studies, Eric spent over 25 years working in the quality department at Eurovet. His true passion lay in exploring the world. He spent all of his vacation days for traveling, setting off with his backpack, no fixed plans, always seeking the unknown. The adventure, the diversity of cultures and the challenges along the way shaped him and fueled his personal growth.
His first journey to Vietnam was in 2006. He was immediately drawn to its beauty and culture. From that moment on, he returned year after year, delving deeper into its landscapes, culture and people. Back then, traveling in Vietnam was not as developed as it is today, but that never deterred him. From remote villages to vibrant cities, he navigated the country with curiosity and an open heart, forming deep and lasting connections along the way.
In 2013, Eric made the bold decision to step out of his comfort zone and turn his passion into a way of life. He permanently settled in Vietnam, embracing its culture as his own. As a true explorer at heart, he wanted to share his love for the country with others. In 2015, he and his wife, Hue, founded Get Up And Go Vietnam, building it into a trusted travel company known for its authenticity and personal touch.
Although Eric is no longer with us, his vision and spirit will continue to inspire and guide us. His wife and business partner, Hue, along with the dedicated Get Up And Go Vietnam team, will honor his legacy by carrying on his mission with the same passion and commitment.
