Mr. Sebastian and Mrs. Audrey, two lovely guests from France, recently visited Panhou Retreat and enjoyed a truly memorable trekking experience.
During their journey, Mrs. Audrey was especially impressed by the local meals shared in the Red Dao village, describing them as delicious and heartfelt. She also deeply appreciated the warm hospitality of our local porter - Mr. Ly, one of our Red Dao porters, guided the couple on their trek to Giang Ha village. Along the way, while passing a steep slope near a buffalo resting area, Mr. Sebastian accidentally dropped his glasses. Without hesitation, Mr. Ly led them back to search until the glasses were found, a small moment that reflected great care and responsibility.
Mrs. Audrey shared that winter here feels much milder and more pleasant compared to winter in France. As they climbed higher into the mountains, both guests were amazed by the scenery around them. Grassy slopes, white silver grass fields, purple mustard flower gardens, and cherry blossom trees gently swaying in the wind created a breathtaking landscape. She especially loved the open, refreshing feeling of standing on the hills and looking out over the terraced rice fields below.
Lunch in the mountains became another cherished memory that Mr. Ly thoughtfully prepared a simple yet comforting meal of fried rice, bread with pineapple jam, smoked local pork, and pickled mustard greens, served with genuine kindness and care.

Spring sunlight slowly climbs over the deep green mountain slopes as mist continues to drift through the narrow paths of highland villages. The last chill of winter lingers on the skin, quietly marking the change of seasons and the moment when the highlands begin to reveal their beauty in their own way.
When people speak of spring in Tuyen Quang, formerly Ha Giang, they often picture the soft pink of cherry blossoms, the golden fields of mustard flowers, or the pure white plum blossoms set against a clear sky. Few realize that this is also the most beautiful time of year for silvergrass in Hoang Su Phi.
Across rolling hills and layered mountain ranges, silvergrass comes into bloom, tracing the trekking routes that lead to Giang Ha Village, Nam Ty Village, and beyond. Its delicate plumes sway gently in the wind, spilling over mountain slopes and passes along the paths taken by travelers visiting Panhou Retreat. The pale white of the grass softens the deep green of the mountains, slowing each step and allowing the mind to grow still.
Holding a fragile plume of silvergrass, memories of childhood quietly return. Afternoons spent playing on open fields, carefully folding the grass into small horses or grasshoppers, simple and untroubled. In that moment, amid the sharp cold unique to Hoang Su Phi, there is a sudden feeling of coming home. Of running freely through a landscape that feels both pure and open. The scent of damp grass mixed with mist and mountain air seems to whisper that after every journey, there is always a place like home waiting for us to return.

Panhou Retreat and Whale Island Resort officially participated in the 32nd International Mediterranean Tourism Market (IMTM). As part of the event, both resorts partnered with Authentic Asia DMC to co-host a dedicated seminar titled “Vietnam – An Ideal Destination for Israeli Travelers,” held from February 2–3, 2026 at Expo Tel Aviv, Israel.
The seminar welcomed distinguished guests, including representatives of the Embassy of Vietnam in Israel, Vietnam Trade Counselor to Israel Mr. Le Thai Hoa, representatives from Arkia Airlines, along with nearly 80 Israeli delegates comprising international tour operators, travel agencies, and influential KOLs and travel bloggers from Israel.
A key highlight of the seminar was the announcement regarding the upcoming direct flight route between Tel Aviv and Hanoi, which generated strong interest and optimism. 🤝 COOPERATION IN BUILDING MINH SON SUSPENSION BRIDGE
FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN THONG NGUYEN
From January 23 to January 25, 2026, a working delegation of Bao Son Group, in collaboration with the People’s Committee of Thong Nguyen Commune, Panhou Tourism & Trading Service Co., Ltd., and Intrepid Travel Vietnam Company Limited, Song Duong Construction Joint Stock Company, conducted a field survey for the Minh Son Suspension Bridge project in Thong Nguyen Commune, Tuyen Quang Province.
On January 23, after nearly five hours of travel to Tuyen Quang (formerly Ha Giang), the delegation arrived at Panhou Retreat, where the official working session with the People’s Committee of Thong Nguyen Commune took place. During the meeting, the parties discussed the actual needs of the local community, the current conditions of the proposed construction site, and mutual commitments throughout the project implementation process.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony was held in a serious yet open atmosphere, reflecting a strong spirit of goodwill and cooperation.
According to the signed agreement, in the coming period, the parties will proceed with detailed surveys, complete technical documentation, agree on construction plans, and coordinate the necessary preparations for project investment.
On Saturday (January 24), the delegation continued to the construction site together with Song Duong Construction Joint Stock Company to conduct technical assessments, evaluate construction conditions, and gather direct feedback from local authorities and residents. The survey results will serve as an important basis for finalizing documentation and preparing for the next stages of project implementation.
👏 The MOU signing ceremony and field survey were successfully completed, marking the beginning of a new phase of cooperation toward the sustainable development of the local community.

🤝HỢP TÁC XÂY DỰNG CẦU TREO MINH SƠN VÌ PHÁT TRIỂN BỀN VỮNG THÔNG NGUYÊN
Từ ngày 23/01 đến 25/01/2026, đoàn công tác của Tập đoàn Bảo Sơn đã phối hợp cùng UBND xã Thông Nguyên, Công ty TNHH DV DL & TM Panhou và Công ty TNHH Intrepid Travel Vietnam, Công ty Cổ phần Xây dựng Sông Đuống tổ chức khảo sát thực địa dự án xây dựng Cầu treo thôn Minh Sơn tại xã Thông Nguyên, tỉnh Tuyên Quang.
Ngày 23/01, sau hành trình 5 tiếng di chuyển đến Tuyên Quang (Hà Giang cũ), đoàn đã dừng chân tại Panhou Retreat - nơi diễn ra buổi làm việc chính thức với UBND xã Thông Nguyên. Tại đây, hai bên đã cùng trao đổi về nhu cầu thực tế của địa phương, hiện trạng khu vực dự kiến xây dựng và những cam kết đồng hành trong quá trình triển khai dự án. Buổi lễ ký kết Biên bản ghi nhớ (MOU) diễn ra trong không khí nghiêm túc, cởi mở và đầy thiện chí hợp tác.
Theo thỏa thuận đã ký, trong thời gian tới, hai bên sẽ xúc tiến các hoạt động: hai bên sẽ xúc tiến các hoạt động khảo sát chi tiết, hoàn thiện hồ sơ kỹ thuật, thống nhất phương án thi công và phối hợp triển khai các bước chuẩn bị đầu tư cho dự án.
Vào thứ 7 (24/01), đoàn tiếp tục xuống hiện trường cùng Công ty Cổ phần Xây dựng Sông Đuống để khảo sát kỹ thuật, đánh giá điều kiện thi công và ghi nhận những ý kiến trực tiếp từ lãnh đạo địa phương cũng như người dân trong thôn. Kết quả khảo sát sẽ là cơ sở quan trọng để các bên hoàn thiện hồ sơ, chuẩn bị các bước triển khai dự án trong thời gian tới.
👏 Buổi lễ ký kết MOU và chuyến khảo sát đã kết thúc thành công, mở ra giai đoạn hợp tác mới vì sự phát triển bền vững của địa phương.

To achieve the deep, long-lasting indigo color on their traditional garments, the Red Dao people follow a meticulous dyeing process that begins with a journey into the forest to gather tram trees, from which they extract a beautiful black dye.
Fresh tram trunks are cut into small pieces and placed into a large barrel filled with spring water. The mixture is left to rest for an entire week. During this time, the resin inside the wood slowly dissolves, turning the water a deep black. Only when all the resin has been released do they remove the wood from the barrel.
The remaining black liquid is then poured into a white sack. The mouth of the sack is tightly tied and set aside in a quiet corner of the house. Gradually, the clear water seeps out and drains away, leaving only the thick, concentrated black resin trapped inside.
After the filtering process is complete, this resin is taken out and mixed with just enough water. It is carefully stirred until the liquid reaches the desired shade of black. The dye must be concentrated enough before it is ready for fabric.
The Red Dao’s white cloth is slowly immersed into the dye vat. With gentle hands, each fold of fabric is pressed and squeezed so the dye can pe*****te every single fiber. When the color has fully set, the cloth is lifted out, wrung dry, and hung under the sun.
A finished piece of black-dyed fabric is the result of a long process of waiting and patience, a quiet creation shaped by time, forest, and human hands.
That was the very honest remark from our Dutch guest as he stood among the open grasslands and lush scenery along a trekking trail at Hoang Su Phi, Tuyen Quang. A simple sentence, yet one that speaks for many travelers when they first encounter the rare purity of the highland air.
The family of Mr. Petrus Henricus Johannes came to Vietnam to attend a family wedding in Ba Ria Vung Tau. After the celebration, they extended their journey to Northern Vietnam to explore destinations that still preserve their unspoiled beauty. We were honored that Panhou Retreat became one of their chosen stops in Tuyen Quang.
With its mild climate, private setting, and the quiet shelter of primary forest, the Johannes family was quickly captivated by the landscape of Panhou, by the ancient trees, rolling green hills, and the remarkably fresh air of the highlands.
Beyond nature, what moved them most was the warm hospitality of the Red Dao communities in the surrounding villages. Through simple conversations, shared meals, and everyday stories, the family gained a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture, of neighborhood bonds, and of the spirit of mutual care passed down through generations. It was a way of life very different from the individual-centered rhythm of Western Europe, yet one they found deeply meaningful and worth cherishing.
At lunch in the heart of the forest, the family especially enjoyed local specialties such as free range pork, fried rice, and most of all, a glass of strong homemade rice wine, carefully brewed by the host and respectfully raised to welcome their guests.
And when asked what stayed with them most after the journey, the entire family smiled and shared their hope to return to Panhou Retreat again in the near future.

Bên tán rừng già, chợ phiên vùng cao được tái hiện tại Panhou như một lớp học ngoài trời sinh động. Con trẻ được quan sát, tham gia và học từ chính đời sống bản địa. Trải nghiệm nhảy sạp, hát páo dung,... gói ghém nhịp xuân rộn ràng của người Dao đỏ mang đến cho cả gia đình những khoảnh khắc quây quần hiếm có. Our travel agency have been organizing some trekking in the stunning Song Chay Mountains for more than 15 years with the collaboration of the local minorities of the area. To offer better services and a confortable place to the travellers before or after their walk and to employ them more often, Lan Phuong and Michel, decided a decade ago to create an eco friendly Resort in the heart of these mountains.
When their new neighbord saw their dog, they called the place "Panhou Village", as reference of the legendary Pan Hou," a dog with five colors, who was offered the south kingdom in the Chinese empire of Ku, actually known as the North Mountains of Vietnam.
Panhou Village is an ecolodge situated in Lang Giang village, Thong Nguyen ward, Hoang Su Phi district, Ha Giang Province, Vietnam which is known for its forested limestone and granite mountains. It’s a typical village with a small river stream nearby. The ecolodge uses solar-powered hot water systems and fans.
Rooms at Panhou Ecolodge are made from bamboo and are surrounded by ponds and vegetable gardens. The Tay gardeners are often active in the park of Panhou Village where Panhou Village set up houses inspired by the traditional local houses. Twenty-six rooms that include their private shower room are supplied by a solar panel system.
Exotism and physical efforts require a cuisine that combines surprises and calories. In the bar, the comments from the explorers about their day enliven the evening.
TRADITIONAL SPA
The Dao people are very famous for their herbal bath. They boil a collection of plants and bark in a water filled giant wok. You can enjoy the beautiful smell of these natural medicines as they are brewing. After several hours of brewing, the water is transferred to a wooden barrel tub. Bath-tubs are made of precious wood
The water temperature should be 30-37oC and cautiously recommended, depending on your health, a stay in the bathtub should last between 10 and 30 minutes. One can actually become intoxicated from the aromatic herbs. A herbal bath is especially helpful for physical and mental fatigue, as it relaxes your body and renews your energy by enhancing overall circulation, soothing your daily tensions.
After a bath, tourists will feel relaxed and comfortable; all weariness seems to be gone.
The bathhouse is a place of healing as well as welfare where traditional massages are also offered.

Surrounded by spectacular scenery, the Ecolodge Panhou Village offers many activities: walking, hiking, trekking, discovering breathtaking landscapes, the markets’ colorful displays, and most of all, the quality of human encounters.
TREKKING
Experience trekking in the stunning Song Chay Mountains with the collaboration of the local minorities of the area landscapes and local people.
A trek day begins at 9am and ends in the afternoon, depending on walking pace and the itinerary chosen, by between 15 and 16h. Lunch for participants are provided as part of our services.
They are leaded by a local guide, member of a minority of the Song Chay Mountains (our local guides only speak Vietnamese).
