One of the most vibrant cultural events of the year, the festival celebrates Khmer heritage through a lively series of traditional and cultural activities. More than just a spiritual and festive occasion, this event has become a unique cultural tourism highlight of Vietnam’s Mekong Delta.

For Khmer people, the moon is considered a God who governs time, tides and weather, regulates crops, and helps them prosper during the year, so on this day every household participates in the Moon Worshiping Ceremony (Ok Om Bok Festival). After the rainy season ends, people will hold the Ok Om Bok Festival to welcome the dry season and respectfully thank the Moon God for giving them rain for a good and bountiful harvest.

The Ok Om Bok Festival is held annually, demonstrating the beliefs of the Khmer community, and at the same time is a way to preserve long-standing cultural values. is the most popular activity of the Ok Om Bok Festival.
