Gion Matsuri is Japan's greatest summer festival—and every July, it takes over Kyoto entirely. For a full month, the city's historic streets belong to towering float processions, the sound of flutes and drums, and the kind of street food that stays with you long after the crowds have gone.

Here’s what awaits you:

🎆 One of the longest-running cultural festivals in the world, dating back to 869 AD
🏮 Yamahoko floats standing up to 20 meters tall, assembled by hand on the city streets
✨ Two processions — July 17 and July 24 — winding through the historic heart of Kyoto
🍡 Chigo Mochi, a sacred rice cake tied to the festival's origins and still made today as a prayer for good health

This summer, let Japan offer you more than sightseeing. Our latest program explores the country's culinary depth—from festival street food to a dining scene that leads the world in Michelin recognition. Every meal here carries a story. Phuket without the noise

Rosewood Phuket sits on Emerald Bay—away from the crowded beach strips, on a hillside that runs straight down to calm water. It's the kind of place that works whether you're here to do very little or quite a lot. Best suited to couples, honeymooners, and families with children who want a proper beach retreat rather than a party resort.

All 71 pavilions and villas have private plunge pools. The Asaya Spa is built around a personalized wellness approach rather than a standard treatment menu, and the dining here has earned two Michelin Keys—worth a dinner reservation even if you're not staying.

Island-hopping, snorkeling, and day trips into Phang Nga are easy to arrange when you're ready to explore.

A different kind of Saigon stay

Most people spend their nights in Ho Chi Minh City in a downtown hotel. An Lâm Retreats Saigon River does something different—25 minutes by speedboat from the city center, it trades the urban buzz for riverfront calm without asking you to go far. It's particularly well-suited to couples, honeymooners, and solo travelers after a restorative break rather than a sightseeing sprint.

The 35 timber villas sit along the Saigon River, several with private pools. Mornings here look like open-air yoga and a slow breakfast from the on-site farm. Evenings look like spa treatments rooted in Vietnamese herbal traditions, followed by dinner at Sen Restaurant—seasonal Vietnamese cooking, much of it grown on the property itself.

It's the kind of place that works equally well as a trip in its own right or as a quiet counterpoint to a few days of city sightseeing. Cu Chi Tunnels, Saigon's food districts, and the arts scene around District 4 are all easy day trips.

If you want to see Ho Chi Minh City without being inside it the whole time, this is worth a look.
