Coffee was first introduced to Vietnam in 1857 by French missionaries. Nowadays, Vietnam has become the second largest coffee producer in the world, after Brazil. Over the years, coffee has become very popular in Vietnam, and now it's a drink for everyone. Older people drink coffee in the early morning to start the day, officer-workers drink coffee in the middle of the day to get more energy, and teenagers drink coffee in the evening while hanging out with friends. Vietnamese coffee is a "must-try" drink for tourists!

Here are some suggestion:
- “Phin” cafe or Drip-filter coffee: this is the signature drink and first call for tourists if they want to try Vietnamese coffee. You can add sugar or condensed milk and ice to your taste.
- Egg coffee: born in the North of Vietnam during the 80s due to the lack of condensed milk. However, the creamy, dense, frothy foam floating on top of the cup made this drink quickly reach the young generation and become the best seller in all coffee shops.
- Coconut coffee: This is the drink for people who don't like strong coffee. A mixture between black coffee, coconut milk, fresh milk, and condensed milk to create a perfect drink that can cool you down in the heat of the summer.
- Salted coffee: the newbie in the coffee industry in Vietnam but it has left a strong mark especially among teenags in Vietnam. It's a salty flavour mixed with sweet and bitter touches to create a crazy taste!

Mui Ne is located around four hours from Ho Chi Minh City. Mui Ne is a good choice for families to travel to every weekend to get away from the heat of the city. There are many leisure activities to do in Mui Ne, such as seeing the sunrise or sunset at the beach, enjoying fresh seafood at the fishing village, or, if you're feeling adventurous, riding ATVs at the sand dunes. You can even take cute photos with the Jeeps. There is also a famous museum of fish sauce, which is a staple in every home in Vietnam.

Here are some things you should do if you decide to visit Mui Ne:
Book a hotel or resort next to the beach, so you can hear the sound of the waves while you relax.
Watch the sunset and sunrise from the beach.
Enjoy fresh seafood at the many local restaurants.
Visit the museum of fish sauce.
Visit the Wine Castle.
Visit Po Sah Inu, a Cham Temple built 1200 years ago.
Rent an ATV or a Jeep and drive on the sand dunes (the best time is 4pm).

Did you know that Karaoke is the most popular entertainment activity in Vietnam?

Vietnamese people love to sing for every occasion: birthdays, weddings, even funerals. It's common to see someone singing on the street and drinking beer with their friends to relax after a long day at work.

Some people even sing for work: they walk around with a speaker and hope to sell some toys with their voice. Share pictures or videos in the comments if you've seen anything like this in Vietnam!

Tết Đoan Ngọ - Tết diệt sâu bọ

Mid-year festival
On May 5th of the Lunar Calendar, the Vietnamese people will celebrate the mid-year festival, called Tet Doan Ngo (Doan means open, start; Ngo means the time between 11am to 1 pm). Doan Ngo is the moment that the sun is the most near the Earth. There's another name for the festival: Tet Diet Sau Bo (killing-insects festival).

According to legend, a long time ago, in May (according to the lunar calendar) farmers celebrated if the harvest was good that year. However, at that time, a lot of insects came, destroying and eating all the harvested food and fruit. An old man appeared from somewhere. He instructed people to set up an altar including: Banh gio (tro), fruit, rice wine, and he also asked everyone to stand in front of their house and exercise. Just like that, the insects suddenly fell limp and could no longer destroy all the food. He also advised the people that every year on this day, they should follow what he taught and the pests would immediately be killed. Nowadays, every year on the 5th of May, people make banh gio, pick fruit and set up an altar to worship at noon.

On the worship altar, there are fruits, banh gio, and many different kinds of leaves including common mugwort, eucalyptus, cactus, mulberry, and lemongrass. Hanging in front of the house to chase away evil spirits or anyone who has flu can use these leaves to cook in steamed water to ease their illnesses.

Most countries in Asia, like Vietnam, China, Japan, and Korea will celebrate this day. In different countries people will have different stories about this day and the best way to pray or leave offerings.

Every day, local people bring their birds to cafes and sit and train with their friends. This hobby has a long history in Vietnam. Bird breeders have specialized knowledge about the care, nutrition and health of these beloved pets. The most enviable bird is the one which has a melodious voice, and can sing for a long time. To practice this skill, the owner takes the bird outside to meet other birds, or listen to the sound of an electronic device. It's a long process, but the bird trainers love what they do.

Which do you think is more chaotic, your life or this traffic? 🤪

If you’re pressed for time and can’t dedicate two days and one night to visit Ha Long Bay, then Ninh Binh is an excellent alternative. Only two hours from Hanoi by car, you can spend one day sightseeing at the breathtaking locations in Ninh Binh, including mountains and Mua Cave. Afterwards, you can travel to the Ancient Capital of Vietnam, Hoa Lu, built over 1000 years ago during the Dinh Dynasty. Trang An is the last destination for the day, where you travel by row boat for 2 hours and see the beautiful Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex, which has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2014.

Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam, is known for its centuries-old architecture and rich Southeast Asian, Chinese, and French-influenced culture. At its heart is the chaotic Old Quarter, where the narrow streets are roughly arranged by trade, also known as the 36 Streets, a collection of small-scale artisan villages evolved into craft guilds, and the streets were named after the products they made. Besides, there are many famous temples and pagodas to visit, including The Temple of Literature, the first national university of Vietnam, constructed 1,000 years ago in the 11th century. There is also the Đồng Xuân Market, where tourists can buy street food or household goods. Visitors seeking a thrill can visit the “train street,” and feel the rush of a train blazing past their coffee shop as they enjoy the delicious local specialty, egg coffee.

Beaches in Viet Nam are very popular during the summer.

Nha Trang is known in equal measure for its family-friendly island resorts, and its rich Champa-influenced cultural heritage and numerous Buddhist and Hindu temples inside the city proper. Nha Trang is a wonderful destination for anyone looking to relax on the beach that stretches for 6 kilometers with 19 islands, hit the water park, or explore the many nature reserves and wooded mountains within driving distance.
