Kien Giang Province attracts nearly 2.9 million tourist arrivals in 9 months of 2013

(TITC) – Since early this year, Kien Giang Province has attracted 2.9 million tourist arrivals, reaching 69% of the plan in 2013. In particular, Phu Quoc Island attracted 68,776 tourist arrivals.

At present, there are 40 tourist attractions in Kien Giang, some of which the places attract many visitors, including: Nguyen Trung Truc Communal House, Large Buddha Pagoda, An Hoa Park (Rach Gia City), Ba Hon monument, tomb of heroic martyr Phan Thi Rang - Ms. Su (Hon Dat District); Ba Lua Archipelago, Hang Pagoda - Phu Tu Islet, Mui Nai, Thach D**g Mountain, Da Dung Mountain, D**g Ho Lake, Mac Cuu Tomb (Ha Tien Town), U Minh Thuong National Park (U Minh Thuong District), Phu Quoc Prison, Dinh Cau, Tranh Stream, Phu Quoc National Park, Den Mountain (Phu Quoc District), Hon Tre Island (Kien Hai District)...

Sa Pa Street Festival 2013 to come

(TITC) - Sa Pa Street Festival 2013 entitled “Colourful Sa Pa”, one of the activities to celebrate the 110th anniversary of Sa Pa tourism (1903-2013), will take place on 1st November 2013 at Sa Pa Town. This is the first time the Street Festival has been held on a large scale and with many special activities.

450 participants of the Sa Pa Street Festival 2013 will include 300 students of The Lao Cai’s College of Culture – Arts and Tourism and 150 art performers working in culture, sports and tourism sector. In addition, in attendance will be a large number of businesses and people of Sa Pa Town.

As scheduled, parade floats decorated in various themes and art performer groups will move along the Sa Pa Town’s main streets and stop at Thac Son – Xuan Vien, Thach Son – Kim D**g, Kim D**g – Ngu Chi Son, Xuan Vien – Ngu Chi Son crossroads to perform.

Sa Pa Street Festival 2013 will be distinguished from other street festivals by its unique arts performances in the parade with various themes such as “Sa Pa flower forests”, “Sa Pa wine”, “H’Mong pan-pipe dancing”, “terrace - field Culture”… Specially, the craftsmen of Sa Pa’s traditional craft villages will introduce their traditional clothes, gastronomy, musical instruments … to tourists.

Hue Illuminates Royal Palace Gate

The Hue Monuments Conservation Centre has installed an automatic lighting system on one of the gates of the royal palace in a bid to make the site look more attractive to tourists in the evenings.

The light system at the eastern Hien Nhon Gate, which became operational yesterday, is controlled by LED sensors.

The light display temporarily put in place for the ao dai fashion show during the last Hue Festival inspired the conservation centre to go ahead with the project. The Ha Noi based Phu Thanh Company donated VND1 billion (US$46,000) for the 637W system.

Hien Nhon Gate was designated as the palace’s entrance for men.

The southern Ngo Mon Gate served as the main front entrance while northern Hoa Binh was the back gate for logistics. The western Chuong Duc Gate was used for women to enter.

Some experts have suggested the initiative is a waste of money, however, as very few tourists go to see the palace at night.

Foreign arrivals in Hanoi shoot up by 20 percent
The number of foreign visitors to Hanoi in the first nine months of this year amounted to 1.9 million, a year-on-year increase of 20 percent and representing 35 percent of all international arrivals in Vietnam.

Up to 1.4 million foreign visitors were from China, rising by 37 percent from a year earlier. It was followed by the Republic of Korea and Japan, said the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism.

In the first eight months of 2013, Vietnam welcomed around 4.9 million international tourists, up 7.9 percent year-on-year. They mainly came from Russia (up by 63.1 percent), China (33.1 percent), Indonesia (25.6 percent), Thailand (24.2 percent) and New Zealand (21.9 percent).
