🇻🇳 HANOI NAMED SOUTHEAST ASIA’S #2 CITY FOR NIGHTLIFE!

Hanoi has just received some international recognition for its nightlife, ranking as the second-best city for nightlife in Southeast Asia, behind Bangkok, according to British magazine Time Out.

So, what makes Hanoi so special after dark? The city offers a mix of street-side bia hoi, rooftop bars, craft b**r, hidden cocktail bars, speakeasies, and underground music venues. The famous Ta Hien B**r Street is just one part of the experience, while some of Hanoi’s best bars are tucked away in unexpected corners of the Old Quarter.

Hanoi also scored strongly for its sense of community, with 82% of local residents saying it’s easy to connect with other people. The city received scores of 67% for nightlife quality and 63% for affordability in the survey.

From a cheap glass of bia hoi on a tiny plastic stool to discovering a hidden cocktail bar or dancing until sunrise, Hanoi’s nightlife seems to have something for every kind of traveler.

But now I’m curious… 👀

🍂 The simple pleasures of young people in Vietnam

Sometimes, happiness doesn’t have to be complicated.

For many young Vietnamese people, it can be as simple as discovering a beautiful street, finding a cute little café, taking some photos, checking in, and sharing the moment on social media. 📸☕️✨

And when Saigon suddenly feels a little cooler and gives us those rare “autumn vibes,” it’s the perfect excuse to go outside, take photos, and enjoy the city. 🍂❤️

Maybe our idea of having fun can be pretty simple and down-to-earth — but isn’t that what makes it special?

☀️ A BEAUTIFUL SUNDAY IN SAIGON! 🚤🇻🇳

Today, Sunday, September 20th, we had the pleasure of welcoming 5 lovely guests from the USA who chose Saigon Taste Tours to explore the Cu Chi Tunnels by speedboat!

Instead of taking the usual road trip by car, we started our journey from Bach Dang Harbor, where our speedboat was waiting for us. 🚤🌊

Cruising along the Saigon River, enjoying the scenery, and watching the city slowly disappear behind us before reaching the countryside is such a different way to experience Cu Chi.

And of course, the adventure doesn’t stop at the tunnels! After exploring the historic Cu Chi Tunnels, we’ll enjoy a delicious riverside lunch before making our way back to the city. 🍽️🌴

Yes, a speedboat experience is a little more expensive than going by car, but if you’re looking for something different, relaxing, scenic, and memorable, we believe it’s absolutely worth trying. ❤️

🇻🇳 Not coffee. Not bánh mì. This is Hủ Tiếu Gõ. 🍜

It’s 1 AM in Saigon… and people are still sitting outside, enjoying a hot bowl of noodles.

This is hủ tiếu gõ, one of the most humble and fascinating parts of Saigon’s late-night food culture.

The “gõ” means to knock — referring to the traditional sound vendors made as they pushed their noodle carts through neighborhood alleys at night, letting people know that hot noodles were coming.

No fancy restaurant. No big sign. Just a small cart, a bowl of hot broth, and a familiar sound traveling through the streets.

For this video, I visited Chú Tân’s hủ tiếu gõ, a local spot that has been serving customers for more than 20 years.

And guess what? The busiest time is between 11 PM and 1 AM. 🌙

Maybe that’s why Saigon has earned its nickname as the city that never sleeps.

For me, hủ tiếu gõ isn’t just about the noodles. It’s about the people, the alleys, the late nights, and the everyday life that makes Saigon so special.

🚨 GRAB DRIVERS IN VIETNAM: HOW MUCH DO THEY REALLY EARN?

A recent discussion in Ho Chi Minh City has highlighted the challenges faced by technology-based drivers. One Grab driver with more than 10 years of experience said drivers currently receive around 2,500 VND (about US$0.10) per kilometer. He explained that working 8 hours a day could bring in just over 6 million VND per month—but that is revenue, not take-home income, because drivers still have to pay for fuel, maintenance, and other vehicle expenses.

A survey of 140 drivers in Ho Chi Minh City found that more than 35% work over 10 hours a day. For some drivers, reaching around 15 million VND in monthly revenue may require working 13–15 hours a day with almost no days off. The survey also highlighted other challenges, including traffic accidents, scams, robbery, and harassment.

Drivers and experts are calling for greater transparency, better opportunities to negotiate fares and commissions, and stronger social protection. The discussion raises an important question about how ride-hailing platforms, drivers, and passengers can find a fairer balance.

☕🥚 Would you try coffee topped with a layer of whipped egg? 🇻🇳

Today, I stopped by Little HaNoi Egg Coffee in Saigon to try one of Vietnam’s most unique coffee creations.

Tucked away upstairs in an old building, this cozy little café has a nostalgic Hanoi atmosphere, with a small balcony overlooking the busy streets below.
But the real star is the egg coffee — rich, creamy whipped egg on top of strong Vietnamese coffee. 🤎

And there’s an interesting story behind this unusual combination. Egg coffee was created in Hanoi in 1946, when fresh milk was difficult to find. Egg yolks and sugar were whipped into a creamy alternative and combined with Vietnamese coffee, creating a drink that has become an iconic part of Vietnam’s coffee culture.

I really enjoyed trying it here at Little HaNoi Egg Coffee — a little taste of Hanoi right in the middle of Saigon.

☕️ Found a little French countryside in Saigon 🇻🇳🇫🇷

Today, I happened to stop by Goen Coffee & Bakery, and I honestly didn’t expect to find such a peaceful little spot in Saigon.

Located in Thu Duc City, in the former District 2 area near Kim Cuong Island, Goen Cafe is designed in a beautiful French Countryside style — warm, romantic, and full of charming little corners.

🌿 But what I love most is the view right across from the café. Instead of busy streets and tall buildings, there’s an open field, bringing in plenty of fresh air and a cool breeze. It makes the whole place feel so relaxing, especially in the afternoon.

Grab a coffee, find a cozy corner, enjoy the breeze, and just slow down for a while. Sometimes, that’s exactly what we need in a busy city like Saigon. ❤️
