Vietnam - The Next China?

Vietnam’s supply chains have significantly evolved from how they were a decade ago. Today, supply chain shifts to Vietnam are ongoing, helped in some part by the US-China trade war, as a growing number of businesses seek out ASEAN or alternate markets to invest in. Among the countries competing for investment, Vietnam has emerged as a highly effective alternative for China.

A young labor force, a real estate boom, a politically stable country that can reap riches through exports and a friendly relationship with the U.S. — many have compared Vietnam to what China was more than a decade ago.

Besides the travel arrangement, the Vietnam Alive Travel team has helped many of our clients setting up their own factories, doing business, or finding their partners, products in Vietnam, and Asia.

Cơm Lam - a special dish in the Northwestern region of Vietnam. It is rice, often glutinous rice, cooked in a tube of bamboo, served with salted roasted sesame, grilled pork or chicken skewers. The bamboo chosen should be fresh and young so that the new membrane inside the tube can wrap the rice, adding it a special flavor, fragrance, and sweetness.

When the rice is cooked, the singed skin of the bamboo is removed, leaving a thin cover that is also peeled away when you eat. Sniffing the blending fragrance of fresh bamboo, banana leaves, and sticky rice as well as experiencing the sweet flavor of rice, bamboo, and coconut, and the greasy saltiness of sesame or the great taste of grilled boar meat are certain to induce guests to fall in love with Cơm Lam - as we do. Ho Chi Minh City (Formerly Saigon) is Vietnam at its most dizzying: a high-octane city of commerce and culture that has driven the country forward with its pulsating energy. A chaotic whirl, the city breathes life and vitality into all who settle here, and visitors cannot help but be hauled along for the ride.

Legend claims in the mid-15th century Heaven sent Emperor Ly Thai To a magical sword, which he used to drive the Chinese from Vietnam. After the war a giant golden turtle grabbed the sword and disappeared into the depths of this lake to restore the sword to its divine owners, inspiring the name Ho Hoan Kiem (Lake of the Restored Sword), Hanoi - Vietnam.

Designated a World Heritage Site in 1994, Halong Bay's scatter of islands, dotted with wind- and wave-eroded grottoes is a vision of ethereal beauty and, unsurprisingly, northern Vietnam's number one tourism hub.

Vietnam in contention for leading culinary destination award

Vietnam has won a debut nomination for the leading culinary destination category at the 2019 World Travel Awards. The nomination reflects the rising popularity of Vietnamese cuisine the world over.

Vietnam will compete for the prize with 13 other countries – Argentina, Australia, China, France, India, Italy, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Spain, Thailand and the U.S., the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism announced Friday.

The winner will be determined by votes from travelers around the world. Voting is open online at worldtravelawards.com and the voting will last until October 20 this year. Voters are required to register for an account on the website before casting their vote.
