🎬 Premiere of the short film “50 FLASHES” – A cinematic journey through Ho Chi Minh City across time

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Reunification Day of Vietnam (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has released 50 FLASHES — a short film blending adventure, fantasy, and historical elements to promote the city’s tourism through a cinematic lens.

The story follows a foreign tourist who stumbles upon an old camera once owned by a wartime journalist. With each flash, he is transported to a different moment in Ho Chi Minh City’s past — from iconic landmarks like Ben Nha Rong Wharf, Cu Chi Tunnels, and the Central Post Office to Ben Thanh Market and the Can Gio Mangrove Forest.

This marks the first time a Vietnamese city has produced a tourism film in a narrative cinematic style, offering viewers a visually rich and emotionally compelling experience of the city’s culture, people, and history.

• Officially launched online on April 21, 2025, via Ho Chi Minh City Tourism’s Facebook and YouTube channels.
• The film will also be available on Vietnam Airlines flights starting June 2025.

That said, in cases where guests express a personal interest in shopping outside the planned itinerary, our tour guides and drivers may assist within reason, including suggesting suitable stores and providing interpretation support when necessary.

, short for Tet Nguyen Dan, is the Vietnamese Lunar New Year and the most significant celebration in Vietnam. It marks not only the beginning of spring but also a time for family reunions, cultural traditions, and heartfelt wishes for a prosperous year ahead. More than just a holiday, Tet is a vibrant tapestry of customs and rituals that reflect Vietnam's deep respect for heritage and nature.

🎇❤️A Time for Family and Renewal
At its core, Tet is about coming together. Families clean and decorate their homes to sweep away bad luck and invite positive energy for the year to come. The sight of blossoming peach flowers in the north and sunny apricot blossoms in the south adds a festive charm. Homes are often adorned with banh chung or banh tet (square and cylindrical sticky rice cakes), symbols of unity and gratitude to ancestors.

🧧🍾A Cultural Feast
Tet is also a culinary celebration. Guests are treated to a variety of delicacies, from pickled vegetables to braised pork with eggs. Each dish holds meaning, whether it’s for wealth, health, or happiness. Situated upstream from the Mekong, 25 kilometers from Luang Prabang in Northern Laos, Pak Ou Caves are packed with thousands of Buddha statues, set in a rocky cliff face overlooking the Mekong River.

⛪⛪The caves are accessible by tuk tuk or by boat. A boat trip along the Mekong river to this Laos Buddhist temple is the most popular way offering a truly authentic cruising experience with a stunning view of the river and local life.
