Tân Định church (Vietnamese, Nhà thờ Tân Định, Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus) is a church built during the French colonial period in the 1880s when Vietnam was part of French Indochina. The church is situated at 289 Hai Bà Trưng street, District 3, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam and belongs to Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Ho Chi Minh City.
The church architecture features Roman style architecture. It is the second largest church in Ho Chi Minh City, after the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica (Vietnamese, Nhà thờ Đức Bà Sài Gòn) in District 1.
The church was started in 1870 and was inaugurated on December 16, 1876. The whole is of Gothic style, but the details are Roman and Baroque. The entire building is painted pink, the facade includes a main tower and two auxiliary towers. At the top of the main tower is 52.6 meters high cross made of copper 3 meters high. Inside there are five bells, with a total weight of 5.5 tons. Two sub-towers have the lamp tower, many windows wind flowers with graceful charms. The cathedral's interior is quite imposing, with two Gothic pillars leading to the main altarpiece of Italian marble, which boasts a great deal of beauty for the whole building. The column on the left is the place where the statues of the saints stand, on the right is the pedestal of the holy saint.
Tan Dinh church has undergone many repairs, expanded in many different events, but did not erase the original architecture.
It is a great place to visit not only for local and international visitors, but also for check-in destinations for young people and couples to visit and explore.
