Travel Neutral Collective

Travel Neutral Collective We travel, not to change things, but leave it better for those who come after. We leave naught but our footprint, not even our carbon footprint.

Travel Neutral Collective is about the endless possibilities of the open road, of finding yourself lost to the heart breaking beauty of rice terraces in the mist, of the frenetic intensity of the chaotic city madness that will not be calmed, of moments of stillness that you can hear your own heart beating. Travel Neutral Collective is about the love of traveling, of respecting people and traditi

on and the reverence for nature. Travel Neutral Collective is about leaving things better than when you found it, about walking with a light heart and leaving no baggage, about treading softly and humbly through the wonders of life. Travel Neutral Collective is about the endless possibilities of the open road and the incredible impossibilities of the endless road.

Hot take: the best luxury travel moment in Vietnam isn't the hotel.

It's the driver who already knows you don't eat seafood. The guide who reads the room by breakfast and never does the script again. The dinner in someone's home that isn't on any list, anywhere — because the family who cooks it has never needed to advertise.

Luxury in Vietnam is the stuff that doesn't photograph well but stays with you for years.

We wrote about it. Honestly, maybe a little too honestly — we basically explained why an expensive trip can still miss the point entirely.

Worth a read if you're planning something, or advising someone who is. Link below →

Most people don’t travel irresponsibly because they don’t care. They do it because they keep saying yes to what’s easy.

Yes to the cheapest flight without asking why it’s that cheap.
Yes to “authentic experiences” staged for cameras, not communities.
Yes to hotels that talk about sustainability while single-use plastic quietly piles up behind the scenes.
Yes to seeing more, faster — even when it means understanding less.

We love the language of conscious travel. We share the posts, save the guides, nod along to the values. But when it’s time to book, convenience usually wins. Price wins. Comfort wins.

And the places we claim to love pay the difference.

Sustainable travel isn’t about being perfect. It’s about being honest — about the trade-offs, the impact, and the choices we make when no one’s watching. The real shift doesn’t happen in marketing copy. It happens in the bookings we walk away from.

Because travel isn’t defined by how far you go or how beautiful the photos are. It’s defined by what you refuse to consume, exploit, or excuse along the way.

So here’s the uncomfortable question: if your travel habits were replicated by everyone, would the places you love still exist — or would they be ruined by people just like you?

Myth 1: You need to travel with a “certified” tour company to be responsible.

Not true. Certifications cost money and don’t always reflect real practices. Some companies buy labels for marketing, not impact. What matters more is transparency — ask where your money goes, how they treat staff, how they support the local community and most importantly, are they paying any local taxes or using shell company to evade taxes. Seriously, you can't claim to be responsible or ethical if you're evading your civic duties and evade taxes. A small, family-run operator can be far more responsible than a big brand with shiny badges.

Responsible travel has become a buzzword, but at its heart, it’s simply a gentler, more thoughtful way of exploring the world. It’s not about being perfect or giving up comfort. And it’s definitely not about guilt. Inste...

Vietnam’s weather isn’t an inconvenience — it’s a character in the story. From misty northern mornings to central coast tempests to southern sunbursts, the country invites you to sway with its rhythms, embrace its unpredictability, and move through it with the same grace its people do.

And who knows — one perfectly timed rain shower might be the moment you fall completely, unexpectedly in love with this place.

Vietnam doesn’t just have weather — it performs it.

Why we say no to plastic. Even the purportedly “biodegradable”.
At Travel Neutral, we work with hotels owners in our management portfolio to remove plastics from their premises. A simple act of removing 2 plastic bottles in each room with refillable amount to tens of thousands of bottles not floating around in our rivers and oceans.
Say no to single use and biodegradable plastics.
