🌸 Due to the complicated situation of the Covid-19 pandemic thus far, the National Pilgrimage Center of Our Lady of Lavang will not organize a pilgrimage to celebrate Our Lady's Assumption into Heaven this year, as it does every year.

🌸 Instead, the Pilgrimage Center will hold an online Mass at 8:00 am on August 15, 2021, at the shrine of Our Lady of Lavang, presided over by Archbishop Joseph Nguyen Chi Linh, archbishop of Hue Archdiocese, and president of Vietnamese archbishop.

Patrons are the Saints in Catholic religious society. Catholics honor Patron Saints as the Heroes of Faith. We follow the examples of Saints, we pray for their intercession, and trust the Saints to present our prayers to God. Many Catholics always have one or two Patron Saints. And those Saints set an example for them to look and live a better life.

The following are five Patron Saints who were mothers. Each these women has their own way of motherhood to raise children in order to be virtuous and holy.

Our Lady of Lavang has long become a popular tourist destination in Quang Tri province. La Vang is one of the important pilgrimage places not only for Catholics but also for others and international tourists.

La Vang is located in the Dinh Cat Parish of Quang Tri Province, 6 km from Quang Tri Town and 58 km from Hue Ancient Capital. Today, Our Lady of Lavang is considered a major pilgrimage center for Catholics in Vietnam and is recognized by the Catholic Church.

The name La Vang comes from different hypotheories.

Once upon a time, in a remote area, there were many tigers harming people. So people who went to the forest have to stay at night, they often shared the soup to each other. If they had seen that there was a danger, they would have shouted loud in order that people can come to rescue. “La vang” in Vietnamese means shouting loud.

Another hypothesis is that when the parishioners went to this area, they got sick. At that time, the spiritual Mother instructed the parishioners to find a leaf called leaf bracing. This leaf could cure the disease when people drank it. After that, they write phrase “lá vằng” but it will become La Vang when dismissing sign.

🌼🌼THE LEGEND OF OUR LADY OF LA VANG🌼🌼

Under the reign of King Canh Thinh (ascended in 1792), with the ban on August 17, 1798, some believers near Dinh Cat Hill Quang Tri) to seek shelter. They came to the refuge at La Vang Mountain. In the sacred forests of poisonous water, poor conditions, lack of food, illness, fear of the military, fear of beasts, believers only know a trust to entrust to God and Mary. They gather together under the old tree, praying together, comforting and helping each other.

One day while they were praying the Rosary, they saw a beautiful woman, wearing a large robe, holding the infant Jesus, with two angels holding the lights on the two sides. They immediately recognized Maria. Mother shows kindness, affection, and comfort to the laity. Mother taught to pick a leaf that is available around it, bring water to heal the disease. She promised her mother, “I have accepted your request. From now onwards, everyone who comes to invoke her in this place will receive the blessing of her will.”

The event took place on grass near the base of the tree where the parishioners were praying. Later, she appeared so many times to support and comfort her children in the affliction.

Since then, the events of Our Lady appear in the forest of La Vang, through generations spread everywhere, and many sincerely believe in, praying to Our Lady. Our Lady of La Vang is often symbolized by a woman dressed in a Vietnamese tunic wearing a Vietnamese traditional costume.

Phu Cam Main Cathedral located on Phuoc Qua hill, in Phuoc Vinh ward, Hue city. Around the 17 th century, Phu Cam located on the banks of the An Cuu River, and it was also the residence for the sons of the Nguyen Lords. In the Nguyen dynasty, this place continued to be the Palace of many Nguyen dynasties royal.

The history of this Cathedral began in 1682s. Under the Nguyen Lords with the starting point is only a bamboo chapel that was built by Priest Langlois. After many changes, in 1898, Phu Cam was rebuilt according to Western classical architecture by Bishop Eugène Marie Allys. And the construction completed in 1902.

When Hue Diocese upgraded to the archdiocese in 1960, the archbishop Ngo Dinh Thuc constructed the new church under the design of architect Ngo Viet Thu. In 1963, the church officially started construction. However, because of continuous political events, the work delayed. Then, in 2000, after 37 years, Phu Cam officially completed.

Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary (also known as the Assumption) is a Catholic holiday, celebrated annually on or around August 15 in many countries. It is also called the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God (in the Eastern countries), or the Feast of the Assumption. The Assumption Day celebrates in the day when the Holy Virgin Mary ended her earthly life and the belief that she was taken to Heaven with her soul and body.

After her death, Jesus did not want to let his Mother suffer a moment under the power of Satan and the sin, therefore, he gave her the Immaculate Conception. Concurrently, he also did not want her pure body to suffer the decay, and he gave the special privilege of returning to Heaven with both soul and body. The Holy Trinity with the holy courtiers on Heaven all salute her.

Through the story of Our Lady, we will have other thoughts about death. Death is no longer a impasse, an end as many people said that: "death is over". On the contrary, for those who have faith, death is the moment when people are returned to the Father, born for eternal life, met loved relatives like in the Eucharistic prayers.

Thien An Monastery is 10km from south of Hue city center, in Thuy Bang, Huong Thuy, Thua Thien Hue, in a romantic, airy space in the middle of the forest of pine. Although far from the city center, the monastery is still an ideal place for tourists and young people to visit and take beautiful photos as one of the features of Hue.

Thien An Monastery is located on the highest hill of group of 140 hills overlapping in an area of about 60ha. The French monks of the Benedictines (Benedictine Order) exploited and named Thien An (peace from heaven).

In January 1935, Fullbert sent Father Wandrille Carrière to Vietnam to investigate, and Father Wandrille chose Da Lat as the place to establish the first monastery. In April 1938, Father Fulbert sent Father Dom Romain Guilauma to Vietnam to work on his home in Dalat. But after father Romain arrived in Hue in April 1940, in October of the same year, Father Romain and Father Corentin celebrated the first Mass to establish the Order and chose the Jesus as patron saint of the monastery.

After many years of establishment, with type of design as convent church, Thien An Monastery still retains its intimacy, harmonize with nature, be beautiful between forest. And no matter how many years, Thien An Monastery is still a sweet and romantic destination to remember.

Since 2006 the Shrine of Our Lady of Sao Bien has become a pilgrimage site of Da Nang diocese, located on the coast of My Khe, near St. Paul’s Da Nang. In October 2006, when the Xangsane superpowers arrived in Vietnam, the hurricane center crossed Da Nang with a concentrated power of 120-130km / h to destroy the city. But the miracle is the wall of Our Lady of the Sea, placed on the rough shelves in the area between the monastery and the seafront, seemingly unharmed, including the old sheets of temporary shield over the head of Our Lady. Recognizing the sacredness of the Blessed Mother, the man who pleads with the Mother of the Sea stars every day and becomes one of the worthy pilgrimages to visit in the Central.

After that, the Shrine of Our Lady of the Sea was built completely near the original site so that pilgrims could be closer to Mother. The miracles and blessings that the Mother of the Sea gives are not discriminated against, as long as those who come to her pray with sincerity and trust.

Due to the complicated situation of the Covid epidemic, the 32nd National Congress of Our Lady Of La Vang 2020 will be canceled.

👉 However, from now until August 15, 2020, if there is no notice of social distancing, the vicar of Our Lady Of La Vang will celebrate The Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary on the morning of August 15, 2020.
