Yen Duc village is in D**g Trieu town and 60km West of Halong city ( only 01 hour) . Yen Duc is a beautiful village with poetic scenery, charming rivers, historical mountains and sacred legends and relics related to Ly

and Tran dynasty. Considered as a “Stone wall” under the war, the village was a cradle of revolutionary movements with many brave, ingenious heroes and local people sacrificed to protect their hometown. Over the years, their names are still alive together with each famous mountain, river and pieces of land here. Similar to other rustic countryside, the local people here are very diligent, gentle and optimistic. Currently, Yen Duc village is one of the few villages in the Delta still retain traditional agricultural features and beauty with the golden rice fields in harvesting time, the gardens of areca trees in the sun and the ponds below the green gourd platforms

Yen Duc village is also rich in traditions with many festivals are held in the every first lunar month. From generation to generation, the local people preserve the fine tradition of re-remembering the source while drinking water. Festivals are events which represent this tradition of the community as well as honor the holy figures named as Gods the real persons in national history or legendary persons who had merits to the community and their hometown.

🇻🇳 The Story of "Snail" in Vietnamese Cuisine 🇻🇳

Bánh đa chấm ốc - Stir-fried snails paired with crispy sesame rice crackers

🥢 No one knows exactly when "Bánh đa chấm ốc" was born, but it breathes the very essence of wet-rice cultivation culture. In the old days, snails were a rustic dish, a "gift from heaven" found in ponds, lakes, and rice paddy borders.

🥢After a long day of plowing and planting, farmers would gather a handful of snails, with nothing but a few lime leaves, ginger, and chilies available in their garden.

🥢 Combining these snails with bánh đa—the ultimate rice-based "field ration" of the countryside—was a stroke of impromptu genius. The crisp crunch of the toasted sesame rice cracker helps mask any slight fishy note, while the fiery warmth of ginger and lemongrass perfectly counterbalances the "cold nature" of the snails. Over time, this dish "migrated" from rural fields to urban streets, draping itself in the elegant charm of Hanoi cuisine.

Snail Hotpot

🍲As Vietnamese culinary art evolved, snails found their way into a more elaborate creation: Snail Hotpot.

🍲 Originating as a traditional specialty of Hanoi, this dish features a rich, soothing broth elevated by the signature subtle sourness of fermented rice juice (gấm/dấm bỗng). Plump, crunchy snails are cooked alongside green bananas, fried tofu, perilla leaves (tía tô), and fresh herbs.

🍲 Snail hotpot transforms a simple street ingredient into a warm, communal feast that brings family and friends together around a steaming pot.

Hanoians never rush when eating snails. Sitting on low plastic stools, holding a piece of rice cracker in hand, they skillfully use the tip of their tongue to coat the snail meat in the rich dipping sauce, before sandwiching it neatly within the sesame cracker. Then, they leisurely savor boiled snails with a rich ginger, garlic, and lemongrass dipping sauce over lively conversations, before satisfying their appetite with a warm, comforting hotpot.

This dish is not meant for lavish banquets. It belongs to everyday conversations, the casual catch-ups between friends on a breezy afternoon, or simply a comforting self-reward after a long, exhausting day.

🌾 There’s a place... where your heart feels lighter the moment you arrive

Some days, you don’t need more excitement.
You need space to breathe, and a little quiet to hear your own thoughts.

☘️ Yen Duc Village is a place where nothing rushes, nothing shouts – a peaceful countryside that feels simple, yet complete enough to make you want to stay longer.
Located in D**g Trieu Town, Quang Ninh Province – just about 2 hours from Hanoi and 1 hour from Ha Long Bay, Yen Duc is a quiet pause on your Northern Vietnam journey. Close enough for a day trip, yet deep enough to make you want to linger until sunset.

📍 Wander down village paths winding through lush rice fields — where the only sound is birdsong, not car horns.
📍 Rest under mossy tiled rooftops that carry the quiet stories of generations.
📍 Sit beside the pond and listen to folk tales told by locals, between traditional water puppet shows.
📍 Lie on a hammock under the trees, sip warm herbal tea, smell grapefruit blossoms — and be still for a while.

🌾 Yen Duc is not a place to rush through with your camera.
It’s where you sit down, take a deep breath, and feel something inside you slow down — and soften.

👉 If you're looking for a journey that’s gentle, quiet, and deeply human — Yen Duc is waiting.
