Thien Ha Grotto Tour - Explore the Galaxy Cave of Ninh Binh

Discover one of Ninh Binh’s hidden gems at Thien Ha Grotto, also known as the Galaxy Cave. The journey begins with a peaceful boat ride through scenic canals surrounded by towering limestone cliffs before entering the mystical grotto, where sparkling stalactites shimmer like stars in the dark.

You can choose between two ending options:

🌿 Return to Thien Ha Grotto: Ideal for travelers with bikes or motorbikes parked at the starting point.

🕊 Continue to Thung Nham Bird Valley: A longer route that ends at a different location — perfect for those exploring by car or on a full-day tour, but not recommended for cyclists as you won’t return to your parking spot.

A tranquil, lesser-known experience that shows Ninh Binh’s peaceful side beyond the crowds.

🌧 Flooding & Landslide Alert: Sa Pa & Ha Giang

Recent heavy rains have triggered serious flooding and multiple landslides in the mountainous areas of northern Vietnam, especially around Sa Pa and Ha Giang. Roads connecting villages are washed out or blocked, several motorbikes and even a few homes have been damaged, and rescue crews are working to clear debris and restore access.

In Ha Giang, a landslide on National Highway 2 (Viet Vinh Commune, Bac Quang District) injured 10 people and left 2 missing. Motorists should expect temporary closures and detours. In regions like Vi Xuyen, Quang Binh, and Hoang Su Phi districts, the risk of further landslides remains high.

What to Know If You’re Traveling:

- Avoid traveling through mountain passes during or immediately after heavy downpours; routes may be impassable or dangerous due to mudslides.

- Stay updated on transport services: buses and local operators may suspend or reroute journeys.

- If already there, postpone risky treks or road trips until weather stabilizes.

- Follow local authorities for evacuation notices or safety advisories.

Stay safe and plan accordingly—nature holds beauty, but also unpredictability.

🌧️ Storm Alert: Bualoi Approaching Vietnam

- Typhoon Bualoi is expected to enter the East Sea tonight, Sept 26, becoming Storm No. 10 of 2025. Forecasts suggest that Bualoi will gain strength as it moves west-northwest toward Vietnam’s central and north-central coastlines.

- Early projections point to possible landfall between Hà Tĩnh and Quảng Ngãi, though some models indicate a shift further north toward Nghệ An and Thanh Hóa.

- Heavy rainfall, flooding, and high risks of flash floods and landslides are expected from Sept 27–29 in affected regions.

🔍 Traveler Tips:

- Recheck your route and transport bookings if heading to the central coast.

- Avoid coastal, island, and mountain trips in the coming days.

- Follow official weather updates and local safety instructions.

- Prepare for possible interruptions to travel, roads, or power services.

🌪 Typhoon Ragasa Update – Sept 24

Typhoon Ragasa has weakened from super typhoon status but still brings dangerous conditions to northern Vietnam. Over the next few days (Sept 24–26), heavy rain of 150–250 mm is expected in many northern provinces, with some areas seeing over 400 mm. This means a high risk of flooding, flash floods, and landslides.

Flights and transport have already been disrupted, especially on routes linked to Hong Kong and southern China. Coastal areas such as Quảng Ninh and the Gulf of Tonkin are also facing rough seas and strong winds.

👉 If you’re traveling, stay flexible with plans, avoid sea trips and mountain trekking, and follow local updates closely.

Guide to Vietnamese Cuisine: Bánh Bao

Soft, fluffy, and comforting — Bánh Bao is Vietnam’s take on the steamed bun. Adapted from Chinese dim sum, it has become a beloved everyday snack across the country, often sold from street stalls in the early morning or late at night.

✨ Popular Types

- Classic pork & quail egg – minced pork with wood ear mushrooms, glass noodles, and a quail egg in the center.

- Chicken or vegetarian – lighter versions with chicken, tofu, or mixed vegetables.

- Sweet bánh bao – filled with mung bean paste or custard, perfect for dessert.

- Plain (no filling) – simple steamed dough, soft and slightly sweet, often eaten as a breakfast bread.

💡 Traveler’s Tip: Bánh bao makes the perfect grab-and-go bite when you’re catching a bus or train. You’ll spot steaming baskets at stations, markets, and even small roadside shops — a cheap, filling snack that locals love any time of day.

Have you ever grabbed a bánh bao in the morning or last minute before the bus like a local?

Travel Guide 101: Sleeper buses vs Trains: Which one to choose?

Two classic ways to cross Vietnam: the scenic train or the overnight sleeper bus. Which one fits your style? Both are popular ways to travel long distances, but each offers a very different journey.

🚆 Train Travel

- Atmosphere: A slower, more relaxed way to see the country. Great for soaking up rural and coastal views.

- Comfort: Air-conditioned cabins, soft berths, and the ability to walk around. More space than buses.

- Extra perk: Safer during bad weather compared to buses.

- Downside: Fewer daily departures, and stations are sometimes far from tourist centers.

🚌 Sleeper Bus Travel

- Flexibility: Dozens of companies, many night departures, and direct routes to places trains don’t reach (like Ha Giang or Sapa).

- Price: Usually cheaper than trains and can save a night’s hotel.

- Local experience: A chance to see how many Vietnamese people travel long-distance.

- Downside: Less personal space, bumpy roads, and varying service quality between companies.

✨ Quick Tip for Travelers:

- Pick the train for comfort and scenic journeys.

- Pick the sleeper bus if you want budget-friendly travel and access to remote destinations.
