5 days Mekong Delta Bike Tour from Ho Chi Minh

FULL ITINERARY
Day 1: Saigon – My Tho – Ben Tre – Tra Vinh (Lunch, dinner)

Leave Busy Saigon for Tan An where we start our biking tour Mekong delta riding through rice fields and dragon fruit orchards. We reach MyTho town and ride over Rach Mieu suspension bridge with picturesque landscape of the Mekong river. We bike in winding roads under the green coconut canopy, the coconut palms that make Ben Tre famous for its.
Lunch break in Ben Tre town, we have a short transfer to Mo Cay and bike along the canal to see the coconut industry workshop here. Keep biking again to Co Chien ferry, another big branch of The Mekong River. Then we bike about 1 hour onto Tra Vinh. A wonderful day with picturesque ferry crossings over Mekong River branches and islands. Overnight stay in Tra Vinh.

Day 2: Tra Vinh – Can Tho. (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)

Up early for walk around this town, enjoy fresh air with many old trees in town. We will bike 8km to the old tree, see old trees and Khmer pagoda nearby the pond. We’ll discover more beautiful Theravada pagodas and encounter the Khmer monks in their pagoda.
First stage cycling ~ 32km to Tra Met on paved road, then start again for windings cement road through rice fields, gardens and ferry crossing to Vinh Xuan. (See video clip below) At Tra On small town by the mekong river, we take two ferries over the island and keep on 15 km to Can Tho.

Optional interesting boat trip: catching a local boat from Tra On to Can Tho around 4pm. This is a beautiful boat trip, cruising 20km up the mighty Mekong river on wooden boat, good chance to chat with local people. Overnight stay in Can Tho.

Day 3: Can Tho – Chau Doc (Breakfast, lunch, dinner)

We will have an early start for a boat trip to Cai Rang floating market, then we have a longer cruise on a quiet country road to take in the magnificent scenery and get close to the locals as they go about their daily routine. Then we bike on local route along canal to Phong Dien. Have lunch break en route. In the afternoon we bike to Sam mountain for a short hiking up to summit. Great view of sunset and rice paddies to Cambodia. Overnight stay in ChauDoc.

Day 4: Chau Doc – Long Xuyen (Breakfast, lunch, dinner

We will rise early for a boat ride through an amazing riverside market and through floating villages with tons of fish farmed in cages underneath water. We bike to Tra Su mangrove forest near Cambodia border. Boat trip here to see the birds sanctuary. Lunch break. In the afternoon we bike to the island and keep on in the countryside road to Long Xuyen. Overnight stay Long Xuyen

Day 5: Long Xuyen – Sa Dec – Saigon (Breakfast, lunch)

We will board a boat cruise to explore the local floating market, no big tourist group here !! Then we bike to the local market which made sedge mats, and we bike to Sa Dec – a quiet town famous by the film L’aman of Maguerite Duras novel.
