SAIGON’S NEW WALKING BRIDGE JUST CONNECTED BOTH RIVERBANKS! 🇻🇳

Big milestone for Ho Chi Minh City! After more than a year of construction, the main span of the Saigon River pedestrian bridge has officially been set in place 🎉

On the morning of October 21, the 3,400-ton main span was lowered into position, linking Bach Dang Park in District 1 with the Thu Thiem New Urban Area on the opposite bank

The bridge’s design is inspired by the nipa palm leaf, a symbol of the Mekong Delta and southern Vietnam 🌿

🇻🇳 BUCKWHEAT SEASON - WHEN THE ROCKY HIGHLANDS TURN PINK

Every autumn, the highlands of Ha Giang take on one of their most recognisable colours - the soft pink and purple of buckwheat flowers spreading across valleys, hillsides and limestone slopes.

Originally grown as a food crop by local ethnic communities, buckwheat has become one of the region’s most iconic seasonal sights.

🌸 FROM WHITE TO DEEP PINK

The flowers are tiny and grow in clusters.

When they first bloom, they are usually white, gradually turning pale pink and then deeper purple as the season progresses.

The main season normally lasts from mid-October to the end of November, with late October to mid-November often offering the fullest blooms.

⛰️ WHERE TO SEE THE FLOWERS

Around D**g Van, buckwheat fields appear in Sa Phin, Pho Cao, Lung Phin, Sung La, Pho Bang, Ma Le and Lung Cam Cultural Village.

Sung La is one of the best-known stops, where flowers grow between old earthen houses and dramatic limestone mountains.

At Lung Cu, fields bloom around the Flag Tower area, while the Meo Vac landscape combines pink flowers with rugged valleys and high mountain roads.

Along Ma Pi Leng, small patches of buckwheat add colour to the spectacular scenery above the Nho Que River.

Further away, Suoi Thau in Xin Man is another beautiful flower destination, but it lies more than 200 km from the D**g Van area and should be planned as a separate route.

🥞 MORE THAN A PRETTY FLOWER

Buckwheat seeds are traditionally used for cakes, liquor and animal feed.

During flower season, visitors may also come across local cultural activities such as ethnic costume performances, traditional games, markets and buckwheat cake-making.

For first-time visitors, one journey can combine Sung La, D**g Van Old Quarter, Ma Pi Leng Pass, the Nho Que River and Lung Cu.

Late October to mid-November 2026 is expected to be a beautiful period, although flowering can vary with weather and planting schedules.

HE DROPPED HIS PHONE IN A LAKE AT HUE IMPERIAL CITY, AND A STRANGER WADED IN TO SAVE IT 🇻🇳

A little story from Hue that’s warming hearts all over social media 👇

It was just after 8am on October 20. A group of international tourists had arrived at Hue Imperial City, cameras ready, excited to explore the former royal capital

Near the majestic Ngo Mon Gate, an elderly visitor stopped to take a photo. Then, in a split second, his phone slipped from his hands and splashed into Kim Thuy Lake 😱

Everything stopped. The whole tour group paused while their guide scrambled to find a solution. The tourist was so worried that he was ready to jump into the lake himself to find it.

That’s when Bui Ngoc Vinh, head of the Hue Heritage Photography Team, stepped in. He asked the guide to reassure the visitor: “Our team will help.”

Nguyen Duc Anh Dang, a young member of the team, volunteered right away. No hesitation. He waded into the murky lake and began feeling around beneath the surface

One minute. Two. Then more than five long minutes later... he found it

The tourist and his whole group burst into applause. Tension turned into laughter, relief, and smiles all around. And the best part? The phone was water-resistant, so it came out undamaged 🎉

The visitor thanked Dang again and again.

“I felt it was simply the right thing to do,” Dang said. “These visitors have traveled from distant countries, so when they encounter difficulties, we should help them. Even a small gesture like this can contribute to promoting tourism and leaving visitors with a positive impression.”

Sometimes the most unforgettable travel memory isn’t a monument or a view. It’s a stranger who rolls up their sleeves, wades into a lake, and makes your whole day better!
