We are still buzzing about the completion of the new Waipu Cycle and Walkway. We enjoy walking along it to the beach or Waipu. However, there is even more exciting news....

😁Makai Lodge has a local mountain bike track 10 km away. It has lots of trails and the locals say it is great!
😁The Waipu trail can be linked to the track at Langs Beach, giving a longer bike ride along a cycleway
😁 There are great quality cafes at either end of the Waipu trail, giving plenty of opportunities to rest
😁 Waipu now has its own e-bike rental company that will drop the bikes off at the lodge for you and we can arrange recharging facilities at the Lodge Coast E-Bike Rentals
😁If you prefer the standard bikes, we also have that covered with WAIPU bike hire

We have just made a donation to this worthy cause on give a little. Future post takes soft plastics and makes fence and landscaping posts out of them. An arsonist lit a fire at their factory and the company was under insured. They may have to close their business, leaving no place for soft plastic use.

We take soft plastic use seriously, minimising where we can and using recycled products at Makai Lodge. Please help them out if you can x

I arranged a Matariki trip for my family to Waipu Caves Farm Park. We were blown away by the beauty and scale of the caves and glow worms and are so proud to have such a wonderful place right on our door step.

The caves are easily accessed, great to visit in any weather, informative and is a professional family run business.

Waipu Cove was looking like summer today, people were swimming and sunbathing. Makai Lodge is ready for the school holidays, see if your dates are available.

Here is the Waipu Winter festival for July.

We went to Waipu stars in your eyes last night and what a professional performance! We certainly have talent in Waipu on stage and behind the scenes.

Don't forget to book Makai Lodge for the school holidays. I have changed our minimum nights to one night this month. This means you can include us on your road trip.

Waipu has not closed down for winter, we have a festival on with many activities. Check out Promote Waipu. There is still lots to do and the weather isn't too bad. It felt like spring on the beach this week and I'm still enjoying the local walks.

We are in a cyclone so the weather forecast isn't the best. Our guests have swapped the weekend of their holiday and we were happy to agree. You can't enjoy the beach but there are other activities available in the area.

I decided to make a new cushion for the lodge. Nothing like some crafting to fill in the time!
