Waikiki with kids? Sometimes a kitchen and a separate bedroom are worth more than a fancy resort pool!

Because family holidays are great, but hungry kids at 7am, expensive restaurant meals and everyone sharing one hotel room? Not always so great.

I’m a big fan of self-contained accommodation for families. A little more space, flexibility and the option to enjoy breakfast on the balcony in your PJs can make a big difference.

Of course, I love a good resort too! It’s about choosing accommodation that suits how your family actually holidays.

Next week I’m heading to Waikiki with Aqua-Aston Hospitality to explore their hotel and condominium-style accommodation. I’ll be sharing what I discover and which options I’d recommend for different families.

Thinking about Waikiki in 2027?

DM me Waikiki with your preferred travel month and who’s coming. I can help you compare accommodation, flights and experiences, and plan and book your family holiday.

This is the part of being a travel adviser I love most.

Receiving messages from clients after they’ve returned home, hearing about their experiences and knowing they’ve had a wonderful holiday.

There’s a lot of planning, research and attention to detail that goes on behind the scenes, but it’s all worth it when I receive feedback like this.

A big thank you to my lovely Bali clients for sharing their experience and trusting me with their holiday plans.

If you’re thinking about your next holiday, I’d love to help you plan it.

The NZ Family Travel Club is officially open — and it’s free to join.

I’ve created it for Australian families who want more than just pretty New Zealand inspiration on Instagram.

Inside the club, you’ll get:

• access to the private member-only Facebook group
• curated NZ family trip ideas
• practical seasonal planning intel
• member-first package releases
• special offers and added-value inclusions when available
• first access to future hosted or group trips

This Reel is exactly the kind of detail I mean.

April can be such an interesting month for a South Island family trip — cooler autumn weather, Arrowtown’s Autumn Festival, Glacier Explorers still operating at Aoraki / Mt Cook, and earlier darkness making Tekapo stargazing much easier to fit around kids.

I’ll share the inspiration publicly. Club members get the detail, the offers, the packages and first access.

Can Aulani really give your kids that Disney magic without the theme parks?

As a Disney-loving family, this was one of my biggest questions before we stayed.

Would it feel like Disney? Would the kids get those special moments we love so much about a Disney holiday?

For us, the answer was absolutely yes.

Seeing the excitement on their faces when they spotted characters around the resort, enjoying character breakfasts, trading pins, making their own Mickey ears and choosing Mickey-shaped treats.

And then there were the little things. The warmth of the Cast Members, the attention to detail and those unexpected Disney moments throughout our stay.

What surprised me was how much we enjoyed experiencing all of that without the pace of a theme park holiday.

The important distinction? Aulani isn’t a theme park. It’s a Hawaiian beach resort where Disney experiences are part of the holiday.

If your kids love Disney but you’re also looking for pool time, beach days and a more relaxed pace, Aulani could be a wonderful option.

I’ve stayed at Aulani with my own family and can help you decide whether it’s the right fit, choose your accommodation and plan your Hawaii holiday.

Considering Aulani? Send me a message and let’s start planning.

I love reading, but these days most of my reading happens on planes or holidays.

And there’s nothing worse than finally getting the chance to sit by the pool with a good book, only to realise you’ve packed a dud.

Actually, there is. Finishing your book two days into the holiday and having nothing else to read!

So I need your help.

I’m putting together a holiday reading list full of books you genuinely couldn’t put down. The kind where you tell yourself just one more chapter and suddenly it’s midnight.

What’s the best book you’ve read recently?

Leave your recommendations in the comments. I’ll put them all together into a holiday reading list we can save for our next trip.

Because choosing the right holiday read is important business!

Queenstown in January is such a good family holiday mix — lake swims, bike rides, jet boats, luge, long summer days and plenty of time outside together.

It’s the kind of trip that feels full of fun without needing every moment to be scheduled.

January is also one of the busiest times to visit, so if Queenstown is on your family summer holiday wishlist, it’s worth getting the important pieces booked early.

I’m a 100% Pure New Zealand Advanced Specialist travel agent and can plan and book your flights, accommodation, transport and experiences as one complete trip.

Will the kids be bored on a cruise?

They might be — if the ship doesn’t suit them.

“Family-friendly” can mean very different things from one ship to another. Kids clubs, age groups, pools, waterslides, sports, shows, teen spaces and onboard activities all vary.

That’s why I don’t just look at the cruise line.

I look at the exact ship, your kids’ ages, what they actually enjoy, and how many sea days are in the itinerary.

A ship that works brilliantly for one family may be a poor fit for another.

If you’re thinking about a family cruise, send me your kids’ ages, travel dates and departure city. I can compare the options and help you book one that actually suits your family.

Save this if a cruise is on your family holiday list.

Hobbiton + Waitomo in one day? Yes — but only if the timings actually work.

If you’re self-driving, book the timed attractions first. Don’t assume you’ll be able to make whatever’s left fit around the drive.

Or make it easier with a tour that coordinates the attractions and transport — including one-way options through to Rotorua.

I’m a 100% Pure New Zealand Advanced Specialist travel agent, and I can plan and book your flights, accommodation, transport and experiences as one complete New Zealand holiday.
