Did you know that Nicosia’s old town houses have their birth dates carved into stone? 😯

For years, I’ve been exploring the walled city with my camera, hunting down dates hidden in stone lintels and wrought-iron fanlights. While many Mediterranean cities have historic doors, Nicosia’s tradition of inscribing the exact construction or renovation year right above the entrance makes walking these streets feel like an open-air archive. 🏛️🙌

In this post, I went back in time-from the ornate Neoclassical doors of 1900 all the way to 1823, where a carved stone medallion still holds over 200 years of history above a residential entrance. 🫶

Ever wondered how homes and people in Cyprus are blessed? 🌿

In Cypriot households, a day often begins with a centuries-old ritual: burning blessed olive leaves and aromatic incense in a clay censer called a kapnistiri. 🏺
