Mum and Sister up from London so we just had to have a little wander up the Royal Mile to catch some street performers and were lucky enough to catch the amazing Jonathan Goh who is so talented and puts on an amazing show!
So lucky these amazing artists come to Edinburgh every year! Lots of interesting architecture, statues and JK Rowling and Annie Lennox hand prints at the City Chambers as well!

Nice city tour with the lovely father and daughter, Martin and Sarah, from NYC, covering for another guide who vehicle had malfunctioned a couple of hours before the pick up time.
We did the usual sights including South Queensferry for the view of the 3 Bridges and were lucky enough to see some Highland Coos on the way back into town!

Just to prove I ain’t high or crazy when I tell tour groups and taxi passengers that there is a big purple cow called The Udderbelly in George Square that is an Edinburgh Festival venue with seating and a stage inside but I can see them in the rear view mirror looking at me like ‘Mmmm, OK, we thought he was kinda normal but now we are not so sure!’ THERE IS a big purple cow that is a venue…SEE!!! 😂

Yesterday’s tour was double booked so missed out but how lucky to get Tina and Reinhold from Germany hop in the cab two hours later going back to their hotel and they spot the tour ad on the back seat and insist they want to do a tour to get out of Edinburgh and see some of the beautiful countryside before heading home today!
We agreed to drive up to Callander to feed the Highland Coos at the Trossachs Woollen Mill at Kilmahog and then take in the gorgeous views and rest for a while at Loch Lubnaig. Baxter enjoyed his stroke and the carrot and potato you can buy in the Woollen Mill shop…he is a big greedy guts and never stops munching, unlike Honey and Hamish who couldn’t be bothered and just stayed chilling out on the grass apart from Honey who eventually got up for a carrot!
A cute dog was only paddle boarding on the Loch!
We stopped at Dean Village and South Queensferry on the way out and tried to get into the car park at the Kelpies but the queue to park was huge so we turned around and headed up past Stirling to Callander.
Today it is bucketing down rain with high wind warnings as you can see from the last shot out of the cab window this morning, so we were lucky to spend a few hours out of town on beautiful day yesterday!

It was a pleasure to spend time with this lovely family from Germany on a 4 hour tour. They have visited Edinburgh a few times but we still managed to find a few views they had never seen before!…the Holyrood brass S’s in the road which marked out the Sanctuary of Holyrood, Portobello Beach for and ice cream and coffee, the drive around Arthur’s Seat and views of St Margaret’s and Dunsapie Lochs, the golf course and The Golf Tavern at Bruntsfield Links where golf has been played since the 15th century, the Union Canal and Leamington Lift Bridge, Fettes College, and Dean Village! Safe drive home guys!

Lovely to finally meet Bob and Lisa from South Carolina after messaging back and forth regarding the tour they had in mind when stopping off at South Queensferry during their cruise on the Regal Princess cruise liner. They are a lovely couple and it was a pleasure to finally meet them and spend some time together on a little tour!
They were lucky with the weather and the first stop was Midhope Castle or Lallybroch in Outlander and then onto Blackness Castle which was used to represent Fort William in Outlander. The views across the Firth of Forth to the Three Bridges where the cruise liner was berthed were amazing. We then headed into Edinburgh for a quick stop at Dean Village before dropping the couple off at Princes Street Gardens so they could explore on their own the Ross Fountain and Edinburgh Castle before making their own way back to the cruise liner.

Fantastic tour up to Loch Ness last Sunday with Grandma Teresa and Granddaughter Isobel from Texas celebrating her graduation!
We were so lucky with the weather because the day after it rained solid for 48 hours non stop…and I mean RAINED!💧☔️🌧️🌂 We stopped at the Kelpies, Stirling and Doune castles, Callander and The Trossachs Woollen Mill to feed the Coo’s, Loch Lubnaig, the Glenogle Viaduct, Glencoe for views of the amazing mountains and the setting for the Harry Potter movie, The Prisoner of Azkaban, Fort William and then a good long stop at Fort Augustus with its amazing canal and locks that flow into Loch Ness where the ladies took their Loch Ness Cruise and then home to Edinburgh via Pitlochry…what a day!

When you fly back on Friday night after 12 days family summer holiday in Spain, land and get home to bed at 2.30am and then somehow wake up at 8am and see that someone booked a tour at 4.30am for a 10am start, you just have to get into gear and do it! It was lovely to meet Merriah and Jimmy and their kids, Bentley, William and Beatrice from the LA area and do a 4 hour city tour together!
Spain was hot and so was Edinburgh when we landed but two days home and it hasn’t stopped raining solid for 2 days…you can see why Scotland is so lush and green compared to Spain where the rivers had all dried up! We did the usual sights with the amazing views and history and also popped down to Portobello Beach which was rammed but had the Haar - sea mist - coming in to put a damper on things…only in Scotland can it be roasting hot and everyone goes to the beach but it’s actually cold-ish and misty🙈😂

When you are getting a tyre changed at Farmer Autocare in the Marchmont neighbourhood and take a little wander and happen across a cool cafe and are amazed to discover it was once one of St Cuthbert’s Co-Operative Society stores, started in 1859, that went on to become the nationwide chain Scotmid co-op….and it was also dairy in Fountainbridge where Sean Connery was born and he also delivered milk for them, 1944-50, before he made it as James Bond!
I knew where Mr Connery was born and that he was a milkman but learnt today that St Cuthbert’s connected it all together and became Scotmid as it is today.
Fascinating city Edinburgh!
If you are ever in Marchmont do pop into Cuthberts Deli and Cafe on Spottiswoode Road for a tasty lunch and a treat!

Got the tram down to Leith to pick up the taxi from after a quick respray on a couple of little scuffs so it’s ready for its annual inspection in a couple of days and straight off your are looking at history everywhere on the building and the old railway bridge that used to cross over the walk…plus the leith sense of humour…nae pricks eh!
!😂

It’s always satisfying to show tourists who have just arrived in Edinburgh an overview of the cities must see locations on a 4 hour tour and watch them get excited to go off and explore on their own!
Donna and Jeffrey from Pleasanton, CA, had just arrived the night before when we met up on Sunday morning and they couldn’t wait to get exploring when we said goodbye after the tour!
We crammed a fair bit in…Calton Hill, Holyrood Palace, Whitehorse Close, the Royal Mile, Greyfriars Kirkyard where Adam Smith is buried and Ebenezer Scrooge was invented by Dickens!…Dunbars Close Garden, Bute House on Charlotte Square, Circus Lane and the New Town, Dean Village where Donna and Jeffrey walked up along the Water of Leith Walkway from Stockbridge and I drove up to meet them, views of Edinburgh Castle from St Cuthberts Kirkyard and the Ross Fountain and Bum the Dog and Wojtek the Bear in Princes Street Gardens.
We had a look at the castle from The Vennel and then a tour around Greyfriars Kirkyard before dropping them at the Grassmarket to have lunch before exploring on their own.
