Headed to Killarney for the All Ireland Championships this February? If you’ve already booked round trip to Dublin, here’s how I’d do 10 nights.
Fly into Dublin, pick up your car, and drive down to Kilkenny for your first night. Walk the castle, grab dinner, sleep off the jet lag.
Then on to Killarney for 3 nights at the Gleneagle. You’re steps from the INEC, so competition day is easy. On your off days, hit Muckross House and take a drive around the Ring of Kerry.
After that you’ve got two great options:
🌊 Go south to Castlemartyr Resort in East Cork. Jameson Distillery in Midleton, the Ballycotton Cliff Walk, and a day trip to Cobh.
🏰 Go north and stay somewhere with a little castle magic. Quick update: Dromoland Castle is closed for refurbishment until June 2027, but I have a few great alternatives I’ll match to your family.
Finish with 3 nights in Dublin before flying home.
Haven’t booked flights yet? Look at flying into Shannon and out of Dublin so you’re not backtracking. Head straight to Killarney, then on to East Cork or the north option, stop in Kilkenny on your way east, and end in Dublin.
Between school breaks and families traveling in for the competition, hotels across Ireland fill up fast. The longer you wait, the fewer family rooms there are and the higher the prices get.
