Packing Tips from a Chronic Overpacker 🧳✈️

What you see: Me on vacation, happy, carefree, living my best life. 😎🌊

What you don't see: The entirely unreasonable number of shoes, swimsuits, and “just in case” outfits I probably packed to get there. 😂

Hi. I'm a chronic overpacker.

I travel often. I know better. I know all the packing advice. And yet I can still convince myself that I need half a dozen swimsuits, far too many pairs of shoes, and several outfits for situations that exist only in my imagination.

Just in case of WHAT, ma'am? 😂

I'm getting better, though. A few lessons I've learned:

👙 You don't need a swimsuit for every day. They dry. You can wear them again. Revolutionary, I know.

👠 Shoes are suitcase thieves. A few versatile pairs that work with multiple outfits beat packing shoes for every possible occasion.

👗 Question the “just in case” outfit. If you can't name when or where you're likely to wear it, chances are it's coming home untouched.

My goal isn't to suddenly become a carry-on-only traveler. Let's not get carried away. 😂 I'm just learning to pack for the trip I'm actually taking instead of every hypothetical situation I can dream up.

Some trips stay with you. ✈️💙

This was me on the beach in Cannes a few years ago, and looking at this picture takes me right back.

One of the things I love most about travel is that long after you've unpacked the suitcase, there are certain places, moments, meals, views—or even feelings—you never quite forget.

Those are the memories I want every Flygirl getaway to create.

So I'm curious...

One of the questions I've been asked is, "Why did you choose the name Flygirl Getaways?"

The answer goes back to the era I grew up in.

Back then, if something was fly, it was one of the highest compliments you could give.

It meant stylish.

It meant effortless.

It meant memorable.

It meant you did it right.

That idea stayed with me.

When I created Flygirl Getaways, I wanted a brand that represents being fly in every sense of the word.

Yes, there's a little travel pun in the name—and that was absolutely intentional. 😊

But more than that, I wanted Flygirl Getaways to represent thoughtfully curated experiences, exceptional service, and the kind of attention to detail that leaves you saying...

"That was fly."

Because that's exactly how I want every client to feel when they return home.
