📷 EAE – Kanga Camp, Mana Pools, Zimbabwe

Set inland from the Zambezi riverfront, Kanga has just six safari tents overlooking Kanga Pan – the only permanent water source within a 12-mile radius, attracting incredible wildlife right to camp, especially during the dry season.

Looking down into the Ngorongoro Crater from the rim.

This is one of the first panoramic views after passing through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area HQ. You get a sense of how vast the caldera is, and see the shallow, soda-rich waters of Lake Magadi stretching out across the crater.

Did you know British Airways is set to launch direct flights from London Gatwick to Kilimanjaro (JRO) from 29 May to 31 October 2027, operating three times a week before continuing on to Zanzibar (ZNZ)?

Close Encounters

This beautiful leopard decided to take cover right by the bumper of our vehicle.

Shinde sits in a private concession in the northern Okavango Delta, where a mix of permanent water and large dry areas supports a wide variety of wildlife ... including big cats.

Visiting the Mara Elephant Project in Mara North Conservancy, Kenya.

Dibblex talks us through how drones are helping the team reduce human-elephant conflict, including the capabilities of their new Mavic thermal drones.

Crop-raiding often happens in the dead of night, when elephants can be extremely difficult to locate and monitor. Thermal imaging changes that, allowing teams to detect elephants in the darkness, track their movements and respond quickly, helping guide them away from farms before a situation escalates.

A great example of how technology is helping people and elephants live alongside one another.

Bush breakfast, with just the hippos for company.

Stay at a camp close to the crater access road and you can be among the first down in the morning, long before the crowds arrive.

For a little while, it can feel as though you have Ngorongoro all to yourself.

Ancient giants of Ruaha

Some of Ruaha’s great baobabs have stood here for hundreds of years.

Their huge, swollen trunks store water.

As they age, their trunks can become hollow inside, yet the tree carries on living, flowering and bearing fruit.

In 2024, two white rhinos – Asenze and Mlevu – were successfully translocated by the Malilangwe Trust to community land bordering Hwange.

Now thriving in their new home, they're being joined by two more rhinos as the Community Rhino Conservation Initiative expands.

It's a powerful example of conservation benefiting both wildlife and people, creating jobs, boosting tourism, supporting local development, and giving communities an even greater stake in protecting Africa's iconic species. 🦏
