Everyone should experience a safari at least once in their life. Don’t believe me? Maybe you’ll believe my clients then…🦁

We got this text from a couple sitting in the airport on their way home, celebrating their one year wedding anniversary:

“My husband said it best: ‘I think every single person should go on a safari in their lifetime. This is the best trip we’ve ever been on, and we’ve been to some very cool places.’ He was a bit apprehensive going in, since his family only traveled domestically and he’d never been out of the country before he met me, so that quote tells you everything you need to know. We’re already planning our next trip to Zambia and Botswana.”

A man who’d never left the country, sitting in an airport, telling his wife that was the best trip of his life. That’s the whole job, right there. 😭

Here’s the truth: the last time I walked into my room on safari, I cried. Not because it was pretty, and oh my goodness gracious was it pretty!!!! My gratitude just completely overflowed and I stood there thinking, how is this all for me. Every time I leave Africa, I come home different. More present, more grateful, more connected to what actually matters.

Everyone should experience a safari at least once in their life… I couldn’t agree more!

Big news, bigger question: what does this actually mean for your trip with Wanderfully Planned? 🤔

Here’s the honest answer, because I know change can make people nervous...

Nothing you love is going anywhere! Same planning process. Same obsessive attention to every detail. Same me. 💁‍♀️

But we’ve added some elements that will make you feel upgraded before you even leave home. A full library of guides:

🧭 Destination guides
🆘 A What To Do If… Guide
🎒 A Wander Like a Pro Guide
💳 A flight experience guide, a credit card guide, and a travel insurance guide

Plus a refined concierge process for the spa afternoons, the dinner reservations, and the tiny details that make it feel personal, like finding out you love Diet Coke and making sure the mini fridge is stocked before you even check in. 🥤

Behind the scenes, we’ve been busy too: auditing every form and email, building a system so nothing slips through the cracks, and dividing up roles so each of us is working in our zone of genius. All of it means more of our combined 17 years of experience and 50+ countries visited goes straight into your trip.

We’ve expanded our team too! Sarah leads operations, Kelly handles reservations and day-of details, and Brittany rounds out the admin side… you’ll meet them all next week! 👋

That growing team also means a growing network: an even deeper bench of supplier relationships behind the same great perks you’ve already loved, room upgrades, daily breakfast, resort credits, at no extra cost to you. Quick shameless plug while we’re here: you should never book a luxury hotel without a travel advisor, you’re leaving real savings and perks on the table every time you book direct. Just saying... 😉

Anyways. You’ll always have the right person in your corner, whether that’s me, Lina, or the rest of the team behind us. Twice the expertise behind every recommendation.

Same heart. Same care. Just a lot more support behind it. Your next trip is in the best of hands, I promise you that. 🤝

Honestly, how rude. 😂

Everyone’s offended by everything these days.

Sometimes the hotel is the trip.
And that’s totally okay.

Let me introduce you to Storfjord, one such hotel. Storfjord 😍

Storfjord was so good I never wanted to leave. Which is saying a lot, in a country where the list of things to see and do is never ending!

The rooms alone: floor-to-ceiling windows, a bathroom with a soaking tub that called my name the second I walked in (big bath girl over here 🛀), and a bed so cozy you passed out the minute your head hit the pillow.

The main building, literally a log cabin, felt like staying in a very well-appointed mountain lodge that belonged to a friend (a very rich one, mind you 😉), not a hotel. Local art on every wall, books stacked on every shelf, architecture that was undeniably Norwegian.

It’s a Relais & Châteaux property, so I knew the food would be good. It was better than good 🤤: fresh, local ingredients, Norwegian dishes including pastries at breakfast and reindeer for dinner (a first for me).

Then there were the Adirondack chairs perched on the hill overlooking the fjords in the distance. I sat for hours doing absolutely nothing but soaking up the sun and completely forgetting I was supposed to be anywhere else. It was heaven.

We spent one whole morning at the spa, 90 minute treatments (Francisco, a gift from god that man!), a sauna, and a hot tub tucked straight into the mountains. Nothing better. 👌

Every evening we ended up in the library: tartan chairs, a fire that never went out thanks to the attentive staff, dessert delivered right to us, card games, and conversation until we finally noticed the time.

Which, some nights, we didn’t until after 11pm. One minute it was 8pm, and suddenly it was far too late for three old ladies to be awake. That midnight sun will really get ya!

Storfjord doesn’t feel like a hotel that could be anywhere. It feels unmistakably Norwegian, thoughtful, understated, rooted in place. 🇳🇴

If you’ve never had a hotel be the highlight of a trip, the thing that lets you slow down, settle in, and actually connect to a place instead of just passing through it, I’d like to change that for you.

You can google a lot of things. But you’re not going to find the good sh*t on Google. 💁‍♀️
The real intel comes from conversations, sometimes years before any of it goes public, and here’s exactly how I get it…
Last month I spent three days at one of the most exclusive travel trade shows in the world, L.E/Miami, over 1,000 hotels, tourism boards, and DMCs, each handpicked to be there. 60 meetings. 20 minutes each.
One of the most iconic hotel brands in the world gave me a first look at their next project, a superyacht launching next year. 🛥️ On the other side of the room, a hotel introduced me to one of only two silhouette artists left in the country, the same one who cuts for the royal family. 👑 I’m already arranging this exclusive experience for a couple staying there in a few weeks. Other partners told me about new hotel openings in Mykonos, Ireland, and France, plus seven new properties over the next four years from one of my favorite US brands. 🤩
None of it comes from a web search. It’s relationships I spend real time building, long before you ever board a plane.
If you want that kind of insider knowledge on your next trip, send me a DM and let’s start planning. 📩

Hot take: staying in a luxury hotel doesn't make your trip less authentic.

Some people think it puts you on a pedestal, in some ivory tower, cut off from the real place. I'd argue it's the opposite.

The right hotel gives you a deeper connection to a place than a random Airbnb could, even if it's a local's actual home.

Some of my favorite properties are restored palazzos, old working farms, and centuries-old manor houses, the kind of places where the architecture alone tells you a story. In these places, I catch myself wishing the walls could talk. Living inside a piece of history, even for a few nights, does something to a trip that nothing else can.

What really gets me is how intentional it all is. Furniture and textiles made by local artisans. When I walk into a hotel and want the interior designer's number so I can steal everything for my own house, that's when you know it's good. Art everywhere, so much that the hotel is basically its own gallery. 🎨 Every material, every detail, chosen because it gives the hotel a sense of place, not just because it looks good in a brochure. Although... we love that too.

They put you in front of the people who actually make a destination what it is… the winemaker, the fisherman, the beekeeper 🐝, the guide who's been hiking these hills since he was a kid. They can open doors to genuinely authentic, unique, and exclusive experiences, the kind you can't get access to any other way.

And then there's the staff. The concierge who's lived there her whole life and has the real inside scoop. The bartender who sends you two streets over to his best friend's bar, hands down the best cocktails in town. The man who's cared for the stables for decades 🐴, having taken over from his father.

This is what people get wrong about the pedestal idea. The best hotels aren't a wall between you and a place. They're a way in, to its history, its craftsmanship, its people. You're not removed from the destination. You're standing closer to it than almost anywhere else you could stay.

I never want my clients choosing between luxury and authenticity. The right hotel gives you both.

Think I'm wrong? Let me plan your next trip. You'll see. 🥂

Have you ever felt like becoming a parent meant giving up the parts of yourself you loved most? 🥹

I recently designed a Greece trip for a mom traveling with her one year old and her mother, three generations, one itinerary. 🇬🇷

Before the trip, she wasn't sure she'd ever get to travel the way she used to. She was once the person who got fully immersed in a new place, and somewhere between labor and midnight feedings, she started to wonder if that version of her was gone.

Then a mosaic workshop. She'd been looking forward to it since we started planning, an art teacher finally getting to make something with her hands in Greece. 🎨 Her son sat right beside her in his stroller, even helping press a few tiles into place himself. Having him there didn't take away from the experience. It made it better.

She didn't have to choose between the trip she used to take and the life she has now.

She got to have both.

The rest of the trip moved the same way. Beach days, boat rides, a cooking class, all with a toddler in tow, and none of it felt hard. 🙌 We built the trip around exactly who was going, with partners on the ground who could adapt the moment something needed to shift. Freddy did his part too, an absolute champ, easygoing, happy to nap anywhere, happy to be passed around by restaurant staff so his mom could actually finish a meal. It was the first trip she'd taken with him since he was born, and instead of spending it managing logistics and worrying, she got to just enjoy.

By the end, it hit her. She didn't have to give up something she loved just because she was a mom. Turns out traveling with her son was easier, and more joyful, than she ever expected. It brought her to tears, realizing that part of her life wasn't gone at all.

She just needed a trip that made room for both versions of her. 🤍

My travel advisor brain is hardwired. For better or worse... it's always on. 🧠

I can't check into a hotel without immediately thinking, "Would I book this for a client?"

I can't walk past a restaurant without wondering if it's actually worth the hype.

And I can't see a private plunge pool without wondering exactly how private it really is... especially for my honeymooners. 😏

Occupational hazard? Maybe.

But it makes me a better travel advisor! Every trip teaches me something I can use to plan an even more wanderful one for my clients. 🤍

Now tell me I'm not the only one who can't switch off from work mode. 👩‍💻
