Meet the tutors: Nigel Overton. 😁
--
Since studying Drawing, Painting & Printmaking at Loughborough College of Art & Design, Nigel has worked with a wide range of different media but in recent years has mainly worked in acrylics.
--
Whatever the medium, he has always maintained his belief in the importance of drawing, both in his own work and while teaching. Nigel has been fascinated with landscapes and seascapes since his early years as an art student. Drawing and painting continue to provide him with the visual means of expressing his personal and emotional response to an ever-changing subject.
--
Formerly Head of Art & Design at Benton Park School in Leeds, Nigel now paints professionally and teaches day and residential classes. Nigel has work in private collections in America, Canada, New Zealand, France, Germany, Netherlands and Australia. You can find out more about Nigel’s work by visiting the website Overton Fine Arts. You can book a course at Gartmore House with Nigel via this link >> https://www.gartmorehouse.com/craft-courses/painting-courses-near-me-uk-2022/

If anyone is interested, I have decided to place the domain of VisitAberfoyle.co.uk up for sale (sensible price) along with the group page for VisitAberfoyle on Face book.

Visit(town/placename) is of course the model of Visit Scotland and recognised marketing and promotional model both Nationally and Internationally. So potentially has good marketing options if used fully in that way to promote Aberfoyle.

My late partner Ian Davison Porter, had owned it with a view to developing things one day. After he passed away I moved away from Aberfoyle. It would be nice to hand it over to someone that can make something of it going forward.

VisitAberfoyle page on here has always had some visitors to it despite the fact no postings have gone on since Ian passed away (except those shared by the National Park).

Contact me if you wish more information.

It is with deep sadness that I now post on here to let people know that Ian Davison Porter passed away suddenly on Monday 25th May.

I delayed posting until I had the full details and I can now confirm it was a heart attack and not a Corona Virus issue.

Regular followers of the site may be aware that Ian ran this page along with a variety of other social media interests that he developed as he commenced his retirement.

Ian had a long career, commencing in retail management, through to shopping centre development and on into Town Centre Management and Regeneration.

He loved Aberfoyle and believed it had many good qualities and great potential as a tourist and visitor destination.

He spent many hours enjoying his social media activities and posting for Aberfoyle. He will be missed by many.

It would be a shame to let the VisitAberfoyle page cease to be as it is just beginning to spread and gain followers.

Contact me directly at Diana Carmody, if you wish further information on this page,

We have a new dedicated web site & address:
