Congratulations to Adam Stewart, Executive Chairman of Sandals and Beaches Resorts, who was recently honored with the 2026 International Achievement Award from The American Friends of Jamaica, Inc. for his transformative leadership in Caribbean tourism, business and community development.

Stewart received the honor during the organization's annual Hummingbird Gala at The Plaza Hotel in New York City. NYC/NJ area ASTA chapter leaders Ann Lewis, Jim Killen and Alicia Onello joined Stewart and Gary Sadler, Executive VP and Unique Vacations team members for the celebration.

Today, ASTA announced its new Verified Travel Advisor (VTA) Virtual Intensive available to ASTA members from December 7–11, 2026, providing a faster, more focused way for advisors to complete their certification before the end of the year.

Traditionally, the VTA program is available to ASTA members in a self-paced format, whereas the new VTA Virtual Intensive takes place over two days of live virtual training.

During the VTA Virtual Intensive, advisors will learn directly from Peter Lobasso, ASTA's Senior Vice President and General Counsel, Certification and Policy Enforcement, and Elizabeth Allred, ASTA’s Corporate Counsel. Enrolled advisors will gain advance access to the VTA course materials and spend live sessions gaining a deeper understanding with case studies, practical examples and expert insight.

Join ASTA for the VTA Virtual Intensive, December 7–11, and take advantage of a faster, more focused way to complete your Verified Travel Advisor (VTA) certification. If this has been one of your goals for 2026, there is no better time!

How does it work?

Prior to the training, you’ll receive access to the course materials to start reviewing and get an idea for the topics that will be discussed.

Live training will take place December 7 and 8 (5 hours total). You'll learn directly from Peter Lobasso, ASTA's Senior Vice President & General Counsel, Certification and Policy Enforcement, and Elizabeth Allred, Corporate Counsel. Spend these live sessions going deeper with case studies and expert insight.

Then, anytime between December 9 and 11, you’ll complete just one comprehensive exam on your own time, rather than four separate exams (one per module) with the traditional VTA enrollment.
