Wreck or reef? You only get to pick one.

Wreck divers love the history, the swim-throughs, and the eerie feeling of a ship sitting on the bottom. Reef divers love the color, the macro life, and never knowing what's around the next coral head.

Drop WRECK or REEF in the comments. I'm curious where this lands.

Be the diver the reef hopes for.

1. Look, don't touch. Even a light touch can damage coral and the animals living on it.
2. Tuck in your gauges. A dangling console drags across everything.
3. Keep your fins off the coral. Watch your kicks when you're near the bottom.
4. Wear reef-safe sunscreen. Some ingredients in regular sunscreen can harm coral.

The reef has been here a long time. Let's keep it that way.

Save this and share it with your dive buddy.

Meet Reagan the Reef Seeker.

She is the new face around here, and she did not come from a branding committee. My granddaughter named her, after a little girl we know who is one of the toughest kids either of us has ever met.

Reagan is going to be the one showing you around from now on. The trips, the reefs, the things worth knowing before you get in the water.

Say hi to Reagan in the comments and tell her your favorite dive spot. She is taking notes.

Small groups, Big Animals, Hosted every time.

Every diver has that one reef on their list. The one you've been saving screenshots of for years.

Tell me yours in the comments. I read every one, and yours might just end up on a future trip.

This is what the first thirty seconds of a dive actually looks like.

Riviera Maya, Mexico. You drop in, the light goes quiet, and for a moment everyone above you is just a shape against the sun. Then the reef comes up and the colour comes back.

We ran this one as a scouting trip for Reef Seekers Travel® to see whether it works for a small group. Short answer: the diving does.

Thinking about a dive trip that is not a flight-and-a-half away? Comment DIVE and we will send you what we found.

If I could give every diver one skill, it would be buoyancy.

Good buoyancy means you use less air, your dives last longer, you're more relaxed, and the reef stays in one piece.

Instructor tip: stop reaching for your inflator for every little adjustment. Use your breath. A slow, full exhale drops you a little. A deep inhale lifts you a little. Your lungs are the fine-tuning k**b.

Save this and try it on your next dive.

"Dive in the morning, this in the afternoon.

Barceló Maya Riviera, on the Riviera Maya coast in Mexico. Adults only, all inclusive, and the dive centre is on the property, so you are not driving anywhere with a tank in the back.

We went to find out whether it works for a Reef Seekers Travel® group. The short version: the diving is good, the logistics are easy, and the price sits well under our Maldives trip.

Comment DIVE if you want the details when we have them."

Manta rays have one of the largest brains of any fish, relative to their body size.

Scientists have studied them for signs of self-awareness, and they'll often circle back for a second look at divers. Having one glide right over you is one of those moments you don't forget.

The best thing you can do when a manta comes by: stay low, stay still, and let it come to you. Chasing it is the fastest way to watch it leave.

Dive travel doesn't have to be a splurge. Here are 4 ways to make it cost less:

1. Go in shoulder season. Same reef, lower rates, fewer boats.
2. Book with a group. Group rates and shared transfers add up fast.
3. Pick a resort with meals included. Eating out on an island gets expensive.
4. Bring your own mask and dive computer. Rental fees sneak up on you.

Save this for the next time you start planning.
