🇶🇦Qatar Creates Dialogues Returns This October
Qatar Creates, part of Qatar Museums, has announced six dialogue sessions running October 24–27 at the National Museum of Qatar Lecture Hall, as part of the Fall/Winter 2026/2027 season.
The programme brings together leading voices in art, design, architecture and cultural leadership — including Sheikha Al Mayassa bint Hamad Al Thani, Chairperson of Qatar Museums, and Sheikha Hoor bint Sultan Al Qasimi, President and Director of Sharjah Art Foundation.
Qatar Creates Dialogues offers audiences the chance to meet cultural creatives directly and explore the ideas, influences and questions shaping contemporary practice.
The series opens next Saturday with «What Makes an Icon?» — examining how artworks, buildings, objects and designs become icons. Speakers include Amir Berbeck (Dean, VCUarts Qatar), Sumaya Valli (Professor Emeritus of Practice, UCL, and CEO of Counterspace, Johannesburg) and fashion designer Mohammed Benchelal, moderated by Dr. Yelena Trocoglia, Editorial Director of Qatar Talks.
Day two turns to collecting and fashion, with a session on «The Visionary Collector: Sheikh Hassan Al Thani and the Formation of the Modern Art Scene in Qatar», featuring Sheikh Dr. Hassan bin Mohammed Al Thani, President of Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art — recounting his first encounters with Arab modernist artists and the journey that led to the museum’s founding.
