Its Wayback Whens Day. This from our old friend David Matthews, noted as "Manzanita Campgrounds". Some refer to this area as the motor court. It is across from the Pine Grove Community House. The building in the foreground was the manager's residence and smaller structures were rental cottages. The cottages disappeared over the years. The house in front remained until Steeplejack Brewing bought the property. Steeplejack cleared the land and it remains vacant today. Recently, Steeplejack bought the building that was the Neahkahnie Bistro and they will open there. Steeplejack says that they still plan to build on this property. More to come.

It was Wayback yesterday when it was Whens Day but here you go anyway. As we close out the high season, here's a picture of a couple of young campers. It appears to be in Neahkahnie but we have it as Manzanita campers and the notation, from back in the day, says Nehalem.

Its Wayback Whens Day! It hot outside today and there's nothing like taking a break to lie down in the cool shade. This guy has it made. They sure seem awfully well dressed for a group of guys hard at work felling one of these giants.

It’s Wayback When’s Day. This is Wayback before NVHS existed. All of Tillamook county’s artifacts went to the Tillamook County Pioneer Museum. This piece of Manzanita history is found there. There are a lot of places to learn about our north county history if you just know where to look. TCPM is a gem. Always a good place to start your research.

Its Wayback Whens Day! Look at this motley crew. Among the group are plenty of names that are still recognizable in the area. We Alley folks, Scovell, Davidson and a one "L' Scovel. In our collection of pictures this one is noted as "Olive at 40".

Its Wayback Whens Day! What a beautiful day at the beach. Was then and it was again today. Today the beach was pretty abandoned with the tsunami warning in effect for about 18 hours. Glad that our beach remains intact and looking much as it did over 100 years ago.

Its Wayback Whens Day. I usually say that I like mine on the rocks but when it comes to boating, I can't say that I have such a preference. Sand or rocks, neither one is very good. Here are the Dragonfly and the Lifeline. Lifeline! What irony.

It was Wayback Whens Day but at my age, I forget which day is which. Here's a photo from the Scovell family files. This is Steven K. Scovell with his family. They came to the valley from Iowa to homestead inn 1882. The young man seated at the lower right is not a member of family but, instead, was a crew member of the Mimi who stayed with the family while the ship was being readied to set sail. He perished when the Mimi sank as it attempted to free itself from the sands at Manzanita.
