Wadi Gebal, Saint Catherine, during springtime

As you hike through this wadi you are surrounded by beautiful Bedouin gardens. Many of these gardens are not well maintained but because the ground beneath, and during spring above, is full of water, the trees continue to flourish and produce fruit in the summer. Some of the more popular ones being fig, olive and almond trees.

You will also come across many fragrant SInai herbs in this wadi, such as zaatar (thyme) and habak (wild mint).

Overnight safari trip around Jabal el Makhroum, Haduda sand dune and Nawamis area.

A wide open landscape, with spaced out rock formations, suitable for a 4x4 trip.

The Haduda sand dune, as seen in the first picture, is South Sinai's biggest dune. It is the same height as the highest rocky mountains surrounding it. The picture only shows the view from the top. It is truly an impressive sight.

Spring hike through Wadi Gebal, one of the greenest wadis in Saint Catherine.

At the time of this trip the wadi was full of water pools, running streams and fresh green shrubs growing. We took an alternative route back through Sad Dawood, a trail which has waterfalls after the rainy season. Imagine waterfalls in the desert!

Wadi Gebal is long and a several day camel trip can take you deep into it's more untouched parts. Many famous peaks, such as Gabal Abbas Pasha and Bab el Donya, are accessible through Wadi Gebal, hence its name. El Galt el Azraq, a hidden water pool, is also found deep in the wadi.

This is definitely one of Sinai's less known treasures.

Tree climbing in El Mazareeg, Nuweiba.

El Mazareeg is the stretch of coastal land that lies after the Port of Nuweiba. It is known by the Bedouins as a prime fishing spot. If you hike it till the end you will eventually reach Blue Lagoon and Abo Galloum.

Wadi Itlah, Saint Catherine

One of the greenest wadis in Catherine. You are hiking in the midst of bedouin gardens surrounded by high mountains. In springtime the flowers are blooming and in the summer season the trees are heavy with almonds, figs, grapes, apples and much more.
A wadi that makes you forget that you are in the Sinai desert.
