Il Mercato nel Campo.

From December 6th to 8th, Piazza del Campo animates with a very special that has its roots back to the beginning of the IV century. The ancient market was a daily appointment but on Saturday it collected all producers coming from the outskirts and was a real event for the whole . VICOLO DELLE CARROZZE: LA STRADA DEI MOLTI “PECCATA”
Una rubrica dello Statuto dei Viari datata al 1298 ordinava che il “classus qui est in Valle Piacta”, ove aveva la propria dimora un tal Pennuccio fornaio, doveva essere chiuso da ambedue i lati. Le motivazioni alla base di una decisione così drastica erano decisamente valide: la strada era talmente buia che vi si commettevano molti “peccata”, e in particolare i malintenzionati che volevano ferire o uccidere qualcuno, come testualmente recita la disposizione, vi si nascondevano di sera e con il favore delle tenebre colpivano indisturbati.
