Have you noticed that most of Addo’s female elephants don’t have tusks?

That’s because when Addo Elephant National Park was founded in 1931, it was to protect the last 11 elephants in the area. Today’s herd descends from those few survivors — and due to inbreeding, many of the females were born tuskless.

To help restore genetic diversity, four bulls from Kruger were introduced in 2002. One of them, the iconic Paul Kruger, is still roaming the park — huge, tusks broken, and a true legend.

Addo’s elephants aren’t just special — they’re a living story of survival.

Planning a visit to Addo but love the simplicity of camping? You’re in the right place.

At Homestead, we get that some travellers prefer fresh air and starlit nights over four walls. That’s why, alongside our cozy B&B, we offer dedicated camping spots just minutes from Addo Elephant Park.

Wake up to birdsong, brew your coffee by the fire, and set out for a day of exploring. If camping’s your thing, Homestead is the perfect place to start your Addo adventure.

Tucked behind the rooms at Beyond Cui Bono, our guesthouse just outside Addo, is a quiet little garden — full of hidden corners, shaded spots, and space to just be.

Read a book. Stretch. Let the kids run. Or do absolutely nothing.
It’s part of the stay — and yours to enjoy.

The Silo's Guesthouse gets its name from the original grain silos still standing at the entrance — a quiet nod to the history of the land.

The Silos has four spacious rooms and plenty of charm. It’s quiet, comfortable, and ideal for small groups or friends travelling together.

And if relaxing in the garden isn’t quite enough… we also offer guided game drives, with pickup right from your door.
