I had to share this...when you spend 8 years speaking to the Tourism 'businesses' and the Agricultural 'businesses' and they both point fingers at one another "no, this is about agriculture, not tourism" with the "no, this is about tourism, not agriculture" and I say ' NO' to both! Eish!! Agritourism Africa is about rural development, keeping rural towns flourishing, rural communities employed, eco-tourism and keeping city people 'sane and grounded'; it felt this was written for me and others who spend their lives being bullied by 'interest' groups...to those out there who understand the bigger picture, you will love this! Thank you Tim Cohen for your insightful comments in your article for the Daily Maverick. I absolutely agree with you...the Olympic Games has never been held in Africa...Why? I was the Coordinator of the Mountain Biking and Equestrian Venues at the Olympic Games in Atlanta 1996 (a long time ago!) and the Marketing Director of the Cape Town Olympic Games before I left for Atlanta...WE CAN host the Olympic Games in Africa, including several destinations for the benefit of all Agritourism Africa Summer Olympic Games Paris 2024

There is nothing quite like being actively involved in a tourism experience. I had asked to visit a coffee planation and processing farm because I love coffee...I wanted to know more! These photographs were taken at a farmers’ cooperative which included a washing station. Coffee beans in this area were grown on shrub-like trees, which once harvested, were taken to washing stations, where they were sorted by hand, pulped and fermented.
Coffee beans here were dried in the sun on raised screens before being ground by hand. Phew, I was sweating at the end of the day as it is a very physical process, BUT I ground my own coffee (with a little help) which I got to taste and take home! Add it to your list of 'must-do' experiences ...Africa is renown for its tea plantations...all 5 senses are used...yes, I picked tea leaves as well - hard work and highly skilled!! Discover more about the tea you drink on a daily basis...I was amazed! Next stop has to be the TEZA Tea Planation on the border of the Kibira National Park in Burundi!
