An Elegant Assembly: Part of the Bathurst Bookfair 2026 “A Village of Stories”. The Committee of the Bathurst Book Fair most cordially requests the pleasure of your company for an afternoon of refinement, conversation and indulgence at An Elegant Assembly, a Jane Austen-inspired high tea of uncommon charm.

Step gracefully into a world of Regency elegance, where teacups are delicately filled, sweet confections tempt the senses, and lively conversation drifts as easily as the afternoon breeze. Inspired by the beloved works of Jane Austen, this gathering promises the sort of society that might delight Miss Bennet, intrigue Mr Darcy, and thoroughly meet with the approval of even the formidable Lady Catherine de Bourgh.

Whether you come for the tea, the company, the literary romance, or simply the pleasure of dressing for the occasion, you shall find yourself most warmly welcomed.

WHAT AWAITS YOU:
• A Traditional High Tea:
Served with all the grace and propriety one would expect of a Regency gathering.
• Delightful Sweet & Savoury Offerings:
A carefully curated selection of indulgent treats and refined bites.
• Endless Tea Service:
Poured into beautiful vintage china worthy of a country estate.
• An Atmosphere of Literary Charm:
Expect wit, warmth and elegant touches inspired by Austen’s timeless stories.
• Regency Dress Encouraged:
Empire-waist gowns, gloves, waistcoats, bonnets, ribbons, or your favourite literary-inspired attire are warmly encouraged.

Featuring: Elegant finger foods & savoury delights by Chef Ray Hankekom-Barnard | Exquisite baked treats by All Baked Up | Fine tea service in vintage china | Regency-inspired décor & enchanting atmosphere
