Nirox Foundation
On Sunday, I had the absolute pleasure of photographing Nirox- Honour the Fathers Music Concert. Not even a bout of bronchitis could keep me away โ honestly it was too magical to miss. A wise musician at the concert so poignantly said, that only some of us have been blessed with a father. Father-figures appear before us in many forms, they have shaped us, our children and our grandchildren.
My wonderful husband, adopted my SUN and made him the man, husband and loving father he is today.
Thereโs something deeply touching about photographing people when theyโre truly relaxed โ no rush, no fuss, just quiet moments of joy and connection. It was a reminder that beauty can lie in quiet, unscripted scenes: I saw many dads hugging their kids and kids on grandpa's lap. One little boy, was snuggled up to his dad, the entire concert- peaceful.
Families were relaxed against haybales, laying on colourful Kente cloth from Ghana and on traditional Shweshwe. Baskets of food, beanies, wineglasses and smiles. Life was so lekker!
To everyone who smiled for me, dozed, or simply showed up โ thank you for being part of the picture. I hope you see yourselves in the images not just as you are, but as part of something shared and beautiful.
Until next time, keep celebrating the everyday magic.
I would love to capture your life story.
