𝐁𝐨𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐧𝐮𝐭𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐥... 🥂🧀

Bonnievale is a little town in the Breede River Valley that is probably best known for two of my favourite things… cheese and w**e.

And did you know:

* Bonnievale literally means “beautiful valley” and when you visit you can definitely see why.

* The cheese connection goes way back. In 1926, a small group of locals started the Boesmans River Co-operative Cheese Factory, making Gouda.

* W**e is quite a big part of Bonnievale’s identity, with vineyards and w**e farms spread throughout the valley and the area producing everything from still w**es to excellent MCCs.

* The railway station was renamed Bonnievale in 1917, and the town continued growing around the railway and agriculture.

* Water played a huge part in the area's development. Christopher Forrest Rigg arrived in 1900 and developed irrigation canals, helping turn the valley into the productive farming area we know today.

* And then there's a rather touching little piece of history. Mary Myrtle Rigg was just seven years old when she asked her father to build a church. After her death, he kept that promise, and the church's cornerstone was laid in 1921.
