Galápagos with children? Absolutely. 🐢🌋
The Galápagos might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think about a family holiday.
But it’s actually one of those destinations we think works brilliantly with curious children.
Because here, wildlife is something you see close up.
You can snorkel alongside sea lions.
Watch giant tortoises in the wild.
Walk among marine iguanas.
See birds that exist nowhere else on Earth.
And spend your days exploring landscapes that feel almost otherworldly.
And the wonderful thing is that the adventure doesn’t have to stop when you leave the islands.
Galápagos is part of Ecuador, and getting there naturally brings you through Quito or Guayaquil — making mainland Ecuador a brilliant part of the journey too.
We could combine the islands with:
🏔️ Quito & the Andes — fascinating culture and spectacular mountain landscapes.
🌿 The Amazon — immersive wildlife experiences and the chance to discover a completely different ecosystem.
🧭 Active adventures — chosen around what your children actually enjoy, rather than simply filling the itinerary with activities.
And then there are two very different ways to experience the Galápagos itself: by small-ship cruise or by island hopping, staying in hotels and exploring from different bases.
For families with more time, we can also look beyond Ecuador. Peru, with Machu Picchu, or Colombia can create an incredible longer adventure.
And this is exactly why we love designing family travel.
Because the question isn’t simply “Where should we go?”
It’s:
“What would make this the adventure our children remember?”
If Galápagos is somewhere you’ve dreamed of taking the family, we’d love to help you work out what the right journey could look like.
