We love a good road trip and Bloemfontein has become one of our favourite stops over the years.

There is something special about crossing the Orange River and watching the landscape transform. Suddenly, the scenery feels lusher and greener, with wide-open spaces, leafy gardens and a refreshing sense of calm. Bloemfontein’s vibrant greenery and beautiful surroundings make it a spectacular place to stop over, stretch your legs before continuing your journey.

When we are looking for somewhere to slow down, relax and recharge, Stonehill Villa in Bloemfontein ticks all the boxes.

This luxurious guesthouse has a wonderfully tranquil feel, with rooms designed to make the most of the peaceful outdoor setting. We loved the private entrances opening straight towards the swimming pool, making it so easy to step outside and enjoy a little downtime.

And the location? Just 1.5 km from local shops and only a few minutes from town, so you get that peaceful escape without feeling miles away from everything.

For us, that is what makes a road trip stop special. Somewhere beautiful where you can put your bags down, take a breath and enjoy the journey as much as the destination.
