Cape buffalo, the most aggressive and unpredictable of the Big Five.

Strong. Unpredictable. United.
When one is in trouble, all come.

Quick facts:
• Big Five icon. One of Africa’s most dangerous animals when threatened.
• Can weigh up to 900 kg.
• Can run up to 35 - 57 km/h.
• Live in herds for safety. Calves stay in the middle.
• The hard horn shield on males is called a “boss.”
• Poor eyesight. Excellent smell and hearing.
• Herds will fight off lions together.

We met these giants at Botlierskop Private Game Reserve on the Garden Route. Just a few metres from the vehicle. Quiet. Intense. Unforgettable.

This was taken on our 2 day safari trip from Cape Town. We visit Botlierskop and Buffelsdrift Game Reserves, both amazing spots where you can see the Big 5, enjoy peaceful drives through the bush, and sleep in comfort under the African stars.

📍Cape of Good Hope, Where History Meets Nature

The Cape of Good Hope, one of the most iconic and photographed places in South Africa.

Back in 1488, a Portuguese explorer named Bartolomeu Dias was the first European to sail around this point. He called it the “Cape of Storms” because of the wild seas and strong winds. But the King of Portugal, seeing it as a sign of hope for a new trade route to India, renamed it the “Cape of Good Hope.”

Many people think this is the southern tip of Africa, but it’s actually the MOST SOUTHWESTERN POINT. The real southern tip is Cape Agulhas, further down the coast. Still, standing here feels like you’re at the edge of the world, with waves crashing below and endless ocean views in front of you.

This place is full of natural beauty too. On your way, keep an eye out for baboons, ostriches, and even Cape Mountain zebras. And don’t miss the famous wooden sign it’s the perfect photo stop to prove you’ve been here.

Whether you’re here for the view, the wildlife, or the history, the Cape of Good Hope always leaves a lasting impression.
